Be patient. I’m pretty sure these are the only places it’s been uploaded to thus far. Someone will upload it to Mega or a public torrent tracker or something similar before too long.

Oh ok, sorry If I sounded stupid, I just want a copy, I have both 1080 and 4K copy’s of 4K77, and they are beautiful, I want to see how 4K83 holds up, but all I ask is I wish Harmy could color correct it, that’s all I ask because his colors are based on a really good print and sometimes 4K77 looks very faded out and the colors are green or brown, but that does not matter, the thing that only matters is that it is amazing, I love it, I can’t wait for 4K83 to be released to a public torrent tracker is all.

I’d like to see 4K83 on my torrent providers - 1337x.to and Rarbag Torrents, those are my go to for finding my movies, I’d like to find it, I’m on a mission at the moment to track down a copy if anybody on a torrent site has it, thanks for helping me guys, your all really good people for helping people find cretin things online

Dude, chill. They’re huge files and were just released. They’ll make their way to public trackers just like 4K77 did, and no amount of begging is going to make that happen any faster.

Patience.

I know, I’m just saying that i hope it gets put on my provider soon, I’m pretty calm but I’m so exited that it’s done, I’m not begging, your telling me everything that I should know before anything happens, and I’m thankful for that

I’d be interested in seeing this 4K version of Return Of The Jedi.

The 4K (2160p) version of 4K83 is now posted in a.b.starwars newsgroup on Usenet

Just use a usenet indexing search engine to find the files.

Luke threw twice…maybe.

So I got this yesterday and compared it to Despecialized and some of the darker scenes (luke & ghost ben, throne room) look way darker and bluer and like, to my untrained eyes, not quite as good, but are those colors more accurate? the ben scenes look appropriately moodier but the throne room just looks darker in a way that looks off when I go to it from the Desp. Also used the Luke/Yoda scene to test and felt like it was also kinda similar. Would love any insights

All the home video versions look completely different due to being mastered for television.

The theatrical look is an attempt to make the film look what it looked like in the theater.

Two completely different goals for the projects.

It says so right in the information file:
Color Timing: The color correction has been done on a reel-to-reel basis (mostly).
This preserves the color variations from shot to shot as they would have been seen
in theatres in 1983. A few deviations from the reel-to-reel correction have been made
to better conform to a TV/monitor environment, plus other minor adjustments. For the
most part it is a reel-to-reel color correction.

Interesting that you say it looks darker, since the most common complaint about 4K83 is exactly the opposite (that it’s too bright).

Yeah I get that they’re different projects, I just wasn’t sure which way is more like, Authentic or whatever, though again I guess that’s different too. I guess maybe my question is, is the film’s color slightly “off” or is the blu-ray etc sort of artificially sweetened?

And yeah I thought it looked a little brighter during the bright scenes, like a lot of the Jabba stuff, just darker in some others. Maybe my laptop is weird but the Luke/Ben scene is WAY darker and bluer than the Desp.

Ah sorry, only just now saw the other comparison thread, where a lot of my stuff is already answered.

If I had your eye for detail then I wouldn’t need glasses for far away shit.

Will and friends… just finished watching the 4K version… as a 97 kid (born in 95 with a dad from 55) I just have to say: thank you! That was amazing, to see RotJ as it was in cinemas sans CG 😃 thank you!

This project is not GOUT-synced. The GOUT version of this film is missing two
frames that were seen in theatres. This project presents those two original theatrical
frames for film and historical accuracy.

I’m not sure how to feel about this. On the one hand, it’s great to see the whole film being preserved. On the other hand, that means a lot of audio and subtitle options have to manually adjusted to compensate for just those two frames. I wouldn’t be so concerned except 4k77 was GOUT-synced, and we know that is also missing some frames, specifically from the end of reel 5 iirc, so why change tactics now?

4k77 not having enough frames can be solved by either using black frames or splicing Blu-ray frames in (I think they did the former). But that is very different from actively removing frames that are on the print just to conform to an inferior standard. I think it makes sense for 4k83 to be the new sync standard for ROTJ.
