and the typical Doctor Who formula always seems a little childish to me.

You do realize that it originated as a children’s/family type show, right?

Sure, but that doesn’t mean the series can’t mature with the times, which I’d argue it has.

Sure. But he said “the typical Doctor Who formula always seems a little childish to me.” My point is, that there is a reason for that: the show originated as a children’s show. When a show originates as a children’s show, it should be no surprise that the typical formula for said show would seem a little childish.

I am unfamiliar with any children’s show Origins for Doctor Who. But like ash said it’s been more of a family geared show the entire time I’ve seen it AKA starting in 2005 with intermittent episodes since then. (I stopped watching regularly soon after the first doctor switch I think). So I don’t think that really matters originally came out of the children’s show or what.

What I mean is everything about the Sonic Screwdriver and the timey-wimey and wilblewomble and all the hand-waving Whenever there could be interesting technical stuff always kind of bugs me. The the aspect of that that is essentially the same way that children play together.in other words you just say what a thing is and that’s what it is and it does what you says it does even if that makes no sense. Play make-believe is wonderful don’t get me wrong, but I see aspects of that in Dr Who and that’s why it just isn’t really for me.

And yes Doctor Who has always been this way in my opinion sometimes it’s endearing but at the end of the day I just prefer something a little more Sci-fi.

Shoot does this mean that we need to create a is Doctor Who sci-fi thread?
