That is a shame. You wouldnt think film restoration would be so hazardous to ones health.
Actually there’s lots about celluloid that is toxic. The silver-applicated soundtracks contain toxic carcinogenic chemicals, magnetic soundtracks are toxic as well, certain cleaning fluids are toxic, the fumes from vinegar syndrome are toxic, and it wouldn’t surprise me if projector oil is toxic as well. And let’s not forget that Nitrate can self-ignite if not stored below 20°C, and even when it’s not self-igniting it can be giving off toxic poisonous fumes simply from decomposition. When it does catch fire the smoke is poisonous.
