When did Darth Vader discover about Luke Skywalker and what were his intentions.

Looking at the Empire Strikes Back crawl, it says that Luke Skywalker led a group of freedom fighters to Hoth - which when you consider A New Hope… surely that role would’ve been assigned to Princess Leia?

Next the crawl it says Vader was obsessed with finding Luke Skywalker. Why? I would’ve thought he would be seeking revenge against the Rebels, as a whole, for blowing up the Death Star? During the time Luke fired his torpedoes, Darth Vader only knew that “the force is strong with this one.”

It seems to me Vader is not given permission to find Luke Skywalker until when Vader chats to the Emperor. He knows he has a son but it’s the Emperor provides him his name. Though this contradicted when Vader had earlier in the movie said "That is the system! And I’m sure the Skywalker is with them. Set your course for the Hoth system. General Veers, prepare your men.”

So does it make more sense "That is the system! And I’m sure the Princess is with them. Set your course for the Hoth system. General Veers, prepare your men.”? Vader had met the Princes in the previous movie and he knew she had, at least, a significant role in the Death Star’s destruction and had a vendetta against her?

Am I missing something?

Yeah, Vader is lying to the Emperor. The film never explicitly states when Vader figures out who Luke is, but it’s obvious he’s well aware before the Emperor tells him.

I mean, it makes sense in light of the whole “join me and we can overthrow the emperor” speech at the end… Vader is plotting against the Emperor throughout the film.

JEDIT:
And he doesn’t really care about the Death Star. He expressed his disdain for it in ANH and in ESB he is on a dogged, single-minded mission to find Skywalker. Decimating the rebels is just a byproduct. It’s quite clear that Vader’s one and only goal throughout ESB is finding and capturing (and turning) Luke. And he’ll do anything (wipe out the rebel army, fly the entire imperial fleet through an asteroid field, lie to his master, take over a mining colony, etc.) to accomplish that one goal.

for me , it was in issue 35 of the original Marvel Star Wars comic that Vader learned Luke’s name , and in the Star Wars newspaper strip by Archie Goodwin and Al Williamson , Luke literally led the Rebels to Hoth after accidentally finding the planet by piloting a spaceship into the slip stream of a shower of meteors

It’s hyperbole. Don’t take it literally.

I’m assuming you’re referring to current versions of TESB? In the original 1980 film, Vader had already learned the name (and identity) of the pilot who had destroyed the Death Star and was hell-bent on tracking him down (for obvious reasons). The notion of the Emperor telling Vader who Luke was during the hologram chat was one of Lucas’ post-1997 tweaks and, typically, doesn’t make a shred of sense.

As Screams said above, Marvel had Vader learning Luke’s name during a raid on a Rebel stronghold. TESB as it stood merely left it to the audience to wonder how and when Vader had learned Luke’s name.

As for the opening crawl, I think it was just a way of defining Luke as a rebel leader rather than the naive farm-boy of the previous movie.
