I can also share it through my WeTransfer account (via Private Messages only), if Adywan agrees.

Amazing to think that nearly 40 years on, we’re still getting nuggets like this released into the wild. Thanks for all involved who made this happen.

I cannot believe that George Lucas is only mentioned once and never interviewed at all. This Documentary is hand down the best one for Empire, perhaps the best one ever for a Star Wars Movie.

It’s Not the Years, It’s the Mileage.

just because they barely mention Lucas? that should be a huge negative!

I think there’s enough material out there about that guy. If he was overlooked in the grand scheme of things, sure. But this is a nice treat away from that stuff.

Well this is the movie he was probably least involved in and the one he cares about the least. And it’s also the best one. Weird how that worked out…

I’ll happily upload the DVD file to the spleen if needed.

it will need!

This evening, it will be up

I presented it myself in a remastered at Celebration Europe 2, I had a veto to share it and I’m happy to see this gem is now available for everyone ! Cheers !

Same source?

No

I checked not sure to be honest … but the source for me was not a French guy, we applied some color corrections and upscaled it to make a blu ray. I should be able to upload the video of the enhancements somewhere …

he was still deeply involved, and at the time of the documentaey he cared about it as much as he cared about the original.

Lucas was commuting between his home base in California and England. He frequently wasn’t on the set. It’s a wonder the author of the original making of book got any interview time with him.

i’m not contesting that, i just don’t think it’s fair for him to be mentioned only once and i think it’s a bit harsh to consider it a positive thing.

Probably because he’s basically taken all the credit for the trilogy afterwards including making changes to other people’s films.

Almost 40 years later, it’s impossible to know the how or why of Lucas not being in this. If the making of The Shining is any guide, there could be many hours of footage shot that simply didn’t make the final cut. We’re used to lengthy docs on movies as DVD/Blu Ray extras today, but vintage docs had to fit a tv timeslot.

Is Mr. Parbot still around?

George is well represented in the other SW documentaries.
