I actually saw someone say elsewhere that it’s his long dead business partner. We only ever see them as a skeleton in the dungeon of the Marauder’s castle. 😛

But it’s not on brand. As a company they need to pretend all of this stuff is one clean Star Wars product from the spin-offs to the toys they sell. No weird dance-offs at their theme parks, no special features on DVDs that suggest any behind the scenes drama. And so it’s keeping with that line of thinking if they say yes, George Lucas created all of this and it was always this way. I’d love to think otherwise but I can’t imagine any other outcome. The theatrical release of the OOT is probably treated with contempt like the old EU now.
You are wrong and always will be. The hope and patient persistence of our cause will always triumph over the hopelessness of those like you. The answer is not to become downtrodden at any point but continue onwards to our self made victory.

Well, I look at it this way:we might bet the OOT before we ever get The Abyss and True Lies on Blu-ray. Whoopee.
At this point they’re probably just waiting for the right time to put it out on 4k.

I don’t like the sound of this:
Unlike its sibling television studio, Fox’s movie studio is expected to be significantly downsized once the deal is complete. Disney will likely take over Fox’s two biggest film franchises, Avatar and the X-Men, and scale back production of costly movies that don’t fit its family-friendly, franchise-focused formula, people close to both companies have said.
I would put this in my sig if I weren’t so lazy.

Seems to defeat one purpose for getting Fox in the first place. Disney has released R rated films and other edgy fare under their Touchstone and Hollywood Pictures banners since the 80’s, why mess with Fox if it’s not broke?
They’d better hope the Avatar deal is ironclad, or Cameron might shop the new films around to another studio. 😉
A PG-13 Deadpool movie would also be kind of pointless.

Deadpool has the kind of jokes in it that they fired James Gunn for making, so in a way this was always incoming. They did use to have Touchstone releases as mentioned above, but I wonder if that era has passed? I’m unsure what they’re involved in these days.

Merely a label than a production arm these days. Last time I saw the logo was in front of Lucasfilm’s Strange Magic.
Once upon a time, Disney was jittery enough about Who Framed Roger Rabbit and The Nightmare Before Christmas that both were released under the Touchstone banner.
Will they stop spending the money generated by properties they don’t fit the Disney mold? Avatar is hardly a family film to begin with. 😛

If they only want the family-friendly stuff, why not move the remaining Marvel, SW, and other properties they’re interested in into Disney then sell the remainder of the studio to someone else?
