I think Escape from the planet of the Apes is underrated.
It’s certainly the best of the sequels. As in the only one that’s watchable. But it is good.
But… Conquest…
Is that the one wear the apes and people are living in peace in the jungle on the edge of NYC until the radicals mount a war? and then at the end the two people decide to worship the Atom bomb?
Uh, no. You’re thinking of Beneath Battle.
Conquest is the one after Escape, set in the 1990s, about the initial ape uprising.
Escape is both a sequel to Beneath and a prequel to the original, thanks to time travel. Conquest, likewise, is a sequel to Escape and a prequel to the original.
For my money:
- Original
- Conquest
- Escape
- Beneath
- Battle
I’m not including the Burton one or the reboot series since they’re all so distinctive from the original series, but reboot films (especially the first one) take a lot from Conquest.
