i know they cost alot, im not new to film preservation, ive attempted to buy and transfer film before, i was saying i would love to see it uploaded once everything has been payed for, i cant donate as i dont make that sort of money

I’m not having a go at you or anyone, my point was just that this stuff doesn’t come cheap at all and poita definitely needs some financial help on this one. These films aren’t going to scan themselves if poita can’t afford the bills. The price of these films is very high - it’s more money than I’ve ever spent all at once buying film, and I currently have some very expensive films - so I can only imagine in horror at the financial pressure that poita would be feeling at the moment. My message isn’t directed just to you, I want to do my part to remind people to please donate if they’re interested in this project - anything from $2 to $20,000+ would be accepted.

Speaking about this, I know that I’m not just speaking for myself when I say that we get questions all the time from people asking “when are you going to upload this”, or “can I get the raw scan now”. And while we all appreciate people’s enthusiasm for these projects, it is often missing the point of what we’re doing with our projects. They are to preserve film. It gets tricky to manage people’s expectations. I still have more Disney films to organise to scan and no funds at all at the moment myself, so I know all too well how the financial strain can bottleneck the work.

Anyway, to recap the SW documentary films cost €2,300 (!) to purchase so I would encourage everyone interested in them to think about what they could afford to donate towards the project. You would be supporting poita’s very important and very very generous preservation & restoration work.

Sorry for acting somewhat hostile, didnt mean to come across that way.
Plus im a wanted man, ive got the death sentance on 12 systems 😛

Yeah I don’t think that’s available anywhere other than the PBS airings. 😦

Haven’t seen the Making of Temple of Doom, but have both the Great movie stunts,
and the Making of Raiders of the Lost Ark on 16mm scanned. Those will come out
at some point.

Not a fan of Temple of Doom, so probably won’t look very hard for that, then
again, not sure if it was on film.

All 3 of the first Indiana Jones movies have ‘Making of’, and all them
are currently on myspleen.

I know. I’m the one that put them there 😃

Temple has never been officially released. It was only broadcast on PBS back in 84. It’s never been broadcast since nor has it ever been released on home video.
Last Crusade, I’m SURE, was edited on video. So there would be no film for that either.

I have come here to resurrect a dead thread. I am highly interested in all of the franchises listed here (Star Wars and Indiana Jones, who woulda guessed) and was curious if anyone bas links to them all? I know there were quite a few mentioned, that weren’t just poita’s he was scanning. If anyone is able to PM me, that would be awesome. Sad I wasn’t around to contribute back when this was started.
