When sleeping with her the umpteenth time and trying to have a conversation for once he shouts about how much he’s disgusted by the whole thing and that he isn’t in any way proud of it. He puts his clothes back on and wants to be done with it, but temptation grabs him by the ear when he looks at her pulling her nylons up, so he apologizes and so on.
How is that different from what I said?
You described the basic plot, not the subject of that specific scene. The scene isn’t about the affair just happening, that’s throughout the rest of the movie. The scene is about his internal struggle with the situation. He is aware of what he’s doing and he’s disgusted by it, but the sexual temptation is too strong for him to leave it behind. It gets the better of him. I wasn’t saying that it reminded me of that time I had an affair with an older woman, it was a figurative relation to the subject of the scene.
