I think I liked Krull more in theory than execution. I’ll have to revisit it again to know for certain.
Krull (1983)
If you like The Dark Crystal, Robin Hood movies, and Surrealist art, you’ll probably like Krull a lot. Needless to say, I quite enjoyed it. It’s astonishing that it took this long to get around to watching it.
One complaint I have is that it is too long. It took three sittings to get though (not really the fault of the movie, it’s just that we kept starting it at my girlfriend’s bedtime), but it could use a fanedit for time. Not that I would do such a thing…
You probably don’t recognize me because of the red arm.

Coincidentally, Rifftrax is doing Krull live this week.
Where were you in '77?
This is a very good movie.

SONIC RACES THROUGH THE GREEN FIELDS.
THE SUN RACES THROUGH A BLUE SKY FILLED WITH WHITE CLOUDS.
THE WAYS OF HIS HEART ARE MUCH LIKE THE SUN. SONIC RUNS AND RESTS; THE SUN RISES AND SETS.
DON’T GIVE UP ON THE SUN. DON’T MAKE THE SUN LAUGH AT YOU.
But it’s a terrible progressive rock album.

Do you think that says “Don’t Look Back”? Because, no.
lol
I would put this in my sig if I weren’t so lazy.

No I’m just saying if you tried to pass that movie off as a rock album, it would be received terribly.

You don’t know that for sure.
I guess you’re technically right.
I, for one, would listen to a prog rock band fronted by Julie Christie & Sutherland, Sr.

Also known as Mr. Liquid Jungle.
Always smart to keep your eyes on eBay too. That’s how I just got the Qatsi trilogy for $30 (new and unopened, with a B&N price tag still on it for $79.99).
Hey, thanks for the tip! Just mad my first ever purchase via eBay auction. Oddly exhilarating.
I would put this in my sig if I weren’t so lazy.
SUMMER OF 84 (2018)
Fun and at times intense 80s nostalgia trip from the makers of Turbo Kid.
The long awaited sequel to Summer of 42.

I would have given it 6 but the rapey scene dropped it.

Oh man I got so obsessed with this movie, and the other movies in the universe in 2016. I remember constantly quoting it and thinking Jay and Silent Bob were some of the best characters to ever be created. I started growing my hair out and wearing baggy clothes to look like them, the whole shebang. I still have long hair, but I’ve stopped trying to look like a drug dealer.
Not enough people read the EU.
I started growing my hair out and wearing baggy clothes to look like them, the whole shebang.
Better than the weirdo hairstyles and skin tight clothes of today.
Watchmen (2009)

Had a lot of pretty good moments but a tasteless sex scene and overly edgy main character brought it down.
Back to the Future Part III (1990)
7/10
It’s not great, but it sure is a lot of fun. The love story was the weakest part.
I haven’t seen Pt. III in ages. I remember it well, but my memory is foggy and I know it just ripped off the original more or less. And when you just rip off something that good, it’s bound to be alright.
Speaking of, I actually watched Back to the Future with a friend a few days ago. It was the first time he had ever seen it! He really enjoyed it, and it got the same reactions out of both of us. I had to explain a few things, like Dave’s Burger King uniform. But the fact it was able to get the same reactions out of someone who’s seen it a thousand times and someone who’s seeing it for the first time… man, that movie is special.
Yeah, both sequels copy moments from the first, but it’s not a very serious series in the first place so I don’t mind. Also, it was a blast reliving something I haven’t seen since I was a little kid (all I remembered was Marty going back in time and seeing the natives.)
