I think some of the Winnie the Pooh films would benefit from this.
The DMC (Disney Movie Club) exclusive Blu-ray release is in it’s original production aspect ratio of 1:66:1 but it loses some of the sides in the Blu-ray version compared to the iTunes version which is cropped to 1:78:1, even if some detail on the top and bottom is lost on iTunes.
Meanwhile, the DVD has the most information on the top, bottom and sides.

I think a UAR version of Piglet’s Big Movie with the iTunes version on the top, bottom and sides applied on the Blu-ray image would be great. With the DVD version applied to parts of the image which the iTunes and Blu-ray versions don’t show.
But I think it would just be an open-matte edit.

There is also Pooh’s Grand Adventure: The Search for Christopher Robin.
It’s on a 1:66:1 aspect ratio on the US DVD, Blu-ray and iTunes (weird, since for most of the other Winnie the Pooh iTunes releases, they are cropped to 1:78:1, so the iTunes release may just be the HD master for the US DVD release).
And the framing is different on both the iTunes and Blu-ray versions, with the iTunes version showing parts of the image that aren’t on the Blu-ray while cutting some parts of the image which were present on the Blu-ray, in both horizontal and vertical axes.

There are also the European and Asian DVDs, which are in 1:33:1 fullscreen.
They cut off part of the sides but are also open matte and show more of the top and bottom.

Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to locate a comparison of the Asian DVD, US DVD, iTunes and Blu-ray all together.

However, I think we should combine the Blu-ray and iTunes for the widescreen part (maybe utilizing the US DVD, since it may have more image) with the European/Asian DVD filling up what’s lost in the Blu-ray and iTunes versions.

Here are some screenshot comparisons:

As for colour, I know the Blu-rays have more saturated and bright colours more in line with The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh and the Blu-ray release of The Tigger Movie.
But I personally prefer the Blu-ray colours, since the detail pops out more (and I personally think the iTunes and DVD releases of Pooh’s Grand Adventure looks like it has a purple tint).
Just give fans an option between the Blu-ray colour palette or the original iTunes/DVD colour palette.
