It's been forever since I read the book, and I wasn't looking forward to the movie very much (I just knew I'd probably end up seeing since my girlfriend really wants to) until I saw this special for it on E! It shows this clip where, after Augustus meets his end, the Oompah Loompahs come out and sing this song about how much he sucks. And Charlie asks something like, "But it just happened to him... How are the Oompah Loompahs singing about him?" And Wonka replies, "Excuse me, improvisation is key to any performer," or something like that. That cracked me up. Anything that can be that self-aware (especially when it comes to characters in musicals knowing all the words to the songs) and pull it off successfully is pretty good in my book. If the rest of the movie is that campy, I think I'll enjoy it.
