Alfredsson,

I see that you're going to eventually release the cover, that's cool. However, I was wondering; do you have HQ versions of the posters? I figured you would have since you must have used them on the cover, but of course those images could've been those sizes originally and therefore not HQ. Please let me know either here or by PM. Thank you very much!

Well the Godfather Trilogy LDs should arrive next week, so I will attempt to make a transfer of the bonus disc first as a test. If you guys think the quality is good enough, I'll go from there with the other discs. I'll keep updating.

On a side note, I have a copy of "Geordie Star Wars" that has a description as follows:

"Geordie Star Wars is a fan made comedy spoof of the original Star Wars Trilogy re-edited into a new 50 minute film which uses dubbed voices over the original characters dialog to make what has got to be one of the funniest things ever seen.

Alot of people have been selling this over the years on various formats but all copies originally came from the original creation which was created using the Widescreen VHS Special Edition releases of the films so is limited to VHS quality even when placed on a DVD.

What is different about this copy is the fact that I have personally just finished completely re-encoding Geordie Star Wars using the recent Star Wars DVD release. The quality is now that of DVD and is even presented in Anamorphic Widescreen.

To my knowledge no one else has attempted to re-encode the entire film so this copy is currently the best quality release of Geordie Star Wars anywhere. Unlike other releases it does not have the extra South Park Star Wars spoof but I have included Trailers for all 6 Star Wars films which make for some interesting viewing."

The audio is not the best, because it's parody overdubbing, but the picture quality is really good. I posted a request on the upload requst forum at MySpleen, but I have yet to get any response after 3 weeks, so I assume request denied.

Is there any other place I should post this torrent for anybody interested? Thanks for any help in advance.

Again, the "bonus disc" has nothing that wasn't released on the DVD boxed set.

And again, there are differences between the tv version than what was on the epic and the trilogy.

Are you saying it isn't worth it then?

As for the Hong Kong films, you can get most of them fairly cheap on DVD. HK and UK DVD's are ususlly uncut. The UK discs for Police story 1 & 2 and Project A 1&2 are widescreen uncut w/ subs or dubs.

Copying the documentary? Not at all. It's exactly the same.

eliasbboy:
You should upload the Geordie Star Wars you have. It's never been torrented (that I know of) and if it is indeed newly composited with DVD-ripped video it should be worth it.

Also; to anyone wanting to upload any torrents, MySpleen is great for Star Wars stuff... but sometimes it does take forever for uploads to be allowed. Go to The Pirate Bay and upload them there.

I know this thread is mainly about ld transfers of rare films but i would like to discuss rare films not on ld.

I'm been looking for this:

Battlestar Galactica: Extended Version: 1977, 148 minute version. Original broadcast pilot and feature shown in Canadian theatres. 28 minutes longer than the DVD, and VHS versions currently on the market. This version is floating around the internet, but still hard to find. Stars Richard Hatch and Dirk Benedict.

just wanted to know if anyone has come across it.

plus there is a website called serialsquadron.com that has this posted:
Rocket Ship
Starring Buster Crabbe as Flash Gordon
Jean Rogers as Dale Arden
Charles Middleton as Ming the Merciless
Priscilla Lawson as Princess Aura

Something new and different! The feature version of the original Flash Gordon serial--in widescreen and the amazing new 3-color Malavision toning technique which gives a more natural appearance to scenes by allowing the use of multiple hues in connection to corresponding brightness values without colorization and gives a James Bama-like feel to every scene! The widescreen process is achieved by cropping the image normally from top to bottom and extending the transfer beyond the normally cropped horizontal area to produce a widescreen proportion ratio. Extras TBA.

Progress: Transfer complete. Tints and effects in process.

does anyone has the dune extended edit on dvd as transfered from the japan laserdisc (best available source)?

The Extented Cut of dune exists in Uk DVD, or Australian DVD. It was just released here in France in a 3 DVD set of Dune.

The transfer is the same for all the DVD : fullscreen 4X3.

I think the extras 28 minutes are on the deleted scenes section of the DVD. so maybe it is possible to rebuild this 1977 extented version directly on dvd ?

Yeah it's also available here (NZ) but how on Earth can you bear to watch it in Full Frame?

I would love to get the extended editon of dune! They have shown it on the sci-fi channel a couple of years ago.

But fullscreen kills it for me. If it is not widescreen then it is not really worth it. Unless it was only released in fullscreen.

I have heard there is a deluxe edition of flash gordon movie from the 1980's released overseas. I wonder what extras are on that. Anyone know?

It was released in France. Studio canal produced a 40' itw with Mike Hodges, and also an audio commentary with him. As an easter egg, you have the trailer for the flash gordon animation film of 1979.

Apologies for the lack of updates. I did receive the set, and I attempted to do a DVD transfer with a Lite-On stand alone DVD recorder (kinda like a vcr). The connections were just composite, and the player is VERY old. I actually had to pull it out of my garage, and now my house is leaning toward the side of the theater room I placed it in. It wieghs more than your average Volkswagen.

The quality was not too hot. My player had sort of a "tracking" like issue, for which I have no adjustment. It did clear up after awhile, but upon playing back the DVD yesterday for the first time, I noticed some skipping at the end of the first side, so I'm going to check the LD tonight. Like I said, the LD player is a week older than Moses, so it may be beyond my equiptment to do much with this.

I'll try to post a sample tonight or tomorrow. I'll have to look up some instructions on getting mpg from .vob, but I should be able to swing it.
