Help Wanted: Request - recreating a trailer and need some HD shots from the OT

Hi all,

I hope this is the right place to ask - I’ve been gone a long time…

I’m recreating my favourite Star Wars trailer in HD using the Blu-rays, but two shots have been too Special Editioned, and I’m hoping someone could help me get hold of the original versions of these shots in as high a quality as possible.

They are:

  1. The wide shot of Luke’s X-Wing floating towards him after Yoda lifts it out of the swamp (https://www.scifibloggers.com/wp-content/uploads/empire-Xwing_l-300x225.jpg)

  2. The final explosion of the ROTJ Death Star (with the Falcon flying towards the camera in front of it)

Can anyone help me with either where to look, or with actual files of the shots in question?

Thanks,

DE

I just want to say, nice avatar! (i had a similar one at one point).

off the top of my head, the 35mm Grindhouse releases of Empire and Jedi are probably your best bet. the final projects for those are a long way off (Poita’s project and 4K80/4K83 projects)

I can help you with that Jedi shot in 4K.

Give me a day or so to get it ready for you.

Thanks! 4k would be awesome. I might just replace the whole shot instead of trying to de-Special it (the explosion doesn’t even line up with the Death Star’s on-screen position in the SE).

Which trailer are you remaking?

I was thinking the Special Edition trailer, but it doesn’t have the shot of Yoda and the X-Wing.

Weird discovery though that it doesn’t have explosion rings either.
