Gin and tonic > vodka tonic.

You’re absolutely right. Amd gin is my standard drink for everything! How did I not think of that! I put a dash of it in pretty much everything I drink except water. So smooth, so subtle, yet so powerful. Mixes with anything.

There’s really no logical reason to think this reduces the chances of an OUT release.

Unless of course the chances already were zero, in which case they literally can’t be lowered anymore.

As I said to the others keep your hopelessness and I will keep my hope.

Chance of OOT re-release is 0%

It isn’t 0%. The chances probably aren’t good. I don’t even think it’s on their radar, but I bet it’s primarily because they don’t care. If they do it, it’ll probably be done as part of a project to restore all old Star Wars footage, so it’d make logical business sense to restore it as they’re revisiting the deteriorating film.

But it’s not on brand. As a company they need to pretend all of this stuff is one clean Star Wars product from the spin-offs to the toys they sell. No weird dance-offs at their theme parks, no special features on DVDs that suggest any behind the scenes drama. And so it’s keeping with that line of thinking if they say yes, George Lucas created all of this and it was always this way. I’d love to think otherwise but I can’t imagine any other outcome. The theatrical release of the OOT is probably treated with contempt like the old EU now.

Half of this is on track. The true chances are 100-200% this is because the want for an OUT release is far stronger and more powerful than most would think. If we pool our resources and use every chance we can to influence and change Disney and Lucasfilm as well as continuing our restoration work in order to inspire any corporate entities that find and appreciate our work and our cause. In truth our patience and our hope will be the key to victory eternal!! Long live Harmy and long live the Unaltered Trilogy and long live the EU.

You are wrong and always will be. The hope and patient persistence of our cause will always triumph over the hopelessness of those like you. The answer is not to become downtrodden at any point but continue onwards to our self made victory.

Yeah, hard to argue when the chances of success are at 200%.

My cause is to see capitalist abominations like Disney eradicated and perpetual copyright abolished. I place my hope & patient persistence in that.

As long as the EU remains in perpetual copyright. I don’t need any of that shit becoming more readily and cheaply available.

Yeah, but they still kept the old EU in print under the “legends” banner, didn’t they?

I know it’s not a perfect 1:1 analogy I’m making here, but if Disney sees money in something that doesn’t really matter to them anymore in terms of their current goals for the franchise, they’ll do it.

Would be interesting if they could put the OOT out under the Legends banner. (The Unoffical Original Trilogy?) It could also be applied to the Ewok movies and the 80’s cartoons. Even the Holiday Special.

can the holiday special be remastered in HD? i thought it had been shot on tape, therefore that would be impossible. what about the ewok movies and the 80’s cartoons, can those be HD?

All the live action stuff in the holiday special (which is most of it, IIRC) was shot/finished on standard def videotape*, yes. The animated sequences might benefit in some way if they were shot on film first and those elements still exist in storage somewhere, ditto for the 80’s cartoons.

The Ewok movies can absolutely benefit from HD and even 4k**, since they were shot on film (presumably 35mm).

*pretty sure this was analog videotape too

**Don’t say it’ll never happen! We already got the Peanuts specials released in 4k UHD with both SDR and HDR versions included, and I’m pretty sure at least one of the Ewok movies actually got a theatrical release.

Well, I look at it this way:we might bet the OOT before we ever get The Abyss and True Lies on Blu-ray. Whoopee.

Yup, it would have been analogue video as digital video wasn’t released until 1986.

At this point they’re probably just waiting for the right time to put it out on 4k.

Edited to clarify: I was talking about The Abyss and True Lies, not the OOT.

I agree with all of this except for the notion that anything is treated with contempt. I don’t think they really care about anything.

Yep. Caravan of Courage (and that ironically was distributed overseas by Fox).
