But it’s not poison…?

The article I posted said there wasn’t lead poisoning. That was a huge fear and recognized as an obvious thing authorities should have recognized.

Legionnaires and pneumonia were said to be the result of using additional chlorine in the water that corroded metals like iron that allowed bacteria to flourish.

Still bad but if we care about these issues the details matter.

Can we at least agree that the condition of the drinking water in Flint was unacceptable(be it due to the lead, or chlorine or something(s) else or a combination thereof)?

Why does anyone care about what stupid people on social media say?

You complain about it all the time though lol.

I complain about them but I don’t value what they have to say. Big difference.

But you were complaining about people caring, not people valuing.

valuing and caring sound very similar to me.

I was complaining about people caring in the sense that they consider the statements of members of some idiot mob on social media to have any value whatsoever.

It’s because the nice easy to read text on the internets gives it a polish and sheen that belies the fact the author previously would have to scrawl such things in crayon or on a bathroom wall. Twitter is a really big bathroom wall most of the time.

Hey, some of the greatest poetry I’ve ever read was on a bathroom stall! Then again, I never “got” poetry.

Second article I’ve seen in as many weeks on conservative sites pushing the idea that control over a legislative agenda by a legislative leader is unconstitutional.

It’s a radical suggestion with no legal basis and the kind of thing Id expect on liberal blogs. But apparently there is some movement afoot on the conservative side.

That surprises me, isn’t Mitch McConnell a republican?

If the republicans in the Senate didn’t like what he was doing couldn’t take away his being the Senate Majority leader? Couldn’t they also vote against his proposals?

Some very conservative people think McConnell is a sellout but give him grudging respect for judicial nominations and a couple other things. They don’t like that he supposedly holds back a more conservative agenda. I think those conservatives are misguided.

As for these recent articles, somebody is behind it with a more specific agenda. I don’t know what but have seen how such campaigns operate.

Rightwingers have really high standards for conservatism. McConnell is extremely rightwing on most issues.

Basically don’t act like a weirdo in the airport (or like a normal person) because air marshals may be following you and documenting everything you do in hopes of discovering you’re up to no good.

I just watched a few of Sacha Baron Cohen’s “Who is America” skits. And while the episodes with Jason Spencer and Dick Cheney were undeniably brilliant, I was disappointed with Cohen for how he staged the Bernie Sanders and Ted Koppel segments. Whereas with Spencer and Cheney, Cohen played someone who was on their side (to get them comfortable enough to reveal their true natures), with Sanders and Koppel he played someone arguing AGAINST them. Thus, he didn’t challenge or “set up” Sanders or Koppel like he did Cheney and Spencer.

Now, I’m an unabashed democratic lefty. But I still would have preferred to see an equal-opportunity duping. We still have no way of knowing whether Sanders or Koppel would have fallen for, or would have been baited by Cohen in the same manner, and end up doing something extreme. Cohen made them look smarter than their republican counterparts, and it might not be apparent to most viewers that it was because he didn’t use the same formula with them. For instance, he could have tried to get Sanders to endorse a plan of withdrawing money from upper-income people’s accounts to pay for free housing for illegal immigrants. Or he could have gotten Koppel to rank Al Jazeera higher than Fox News (although frankly, I would).

Having said that, Cheney was downright scary.

That does seem concerning.

Of course the other side of it is that the stakes are high. We don’t want bad people to be able to hijack planes and ram them into who knows what and kill who knows how many people.
