it looks awesome, the poster is classic as well they have it up at AICN

This movie was shot entirely on bluescreen, the only real element is the actors. But I love the style, I'm looking forward to this one.

Hopefully, they did better with this than the bluescreen acting in AOTC. The cinematography looks stunning! I am really looking forward to this one just after watching the trailer.

WOW!!! I don't follow the recent flick announcements (I've periods when I get bored/interested with certain hobbies, like moviewatching) so I'd probably missed it...

And it would be a major mistake!

I usually complain that recent movies are "not in my style", i.e. even when they should be ok (like T3) what I get at the end is disappointment.

Now for the Sky Captain:

* 1930s/40s... somehow I was always interested in that period... and I'm not talking about WW2 only, but also about things like clothes, music, skyscrappers, Art Deco, cars! planes!! Zeppelins! Tommy-guns
* (stylized) "old" sci-fi can be really cool... and even this short trailer builds up the "mood"
* fighter combat!
* comic book superhero that doesn't wear a cape nor has super powers
* and more

Darn, I'll be waiting on this one! Thnx 4 the 'nfo, HotRod.
I saw the original theatrical release of the Old Trilogy on the big screen and I'm proud of it...

Wow! Just watched the trailer. How did this one completely slip under the radar? I haven't heard word one about this movie until this thread. And it's not as though this is some low-budget film with no-name stars. We're talking Jude Law, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Angelina Jolie. That's a pretty high profile cast.

As for the film itself, it looks incredible. It's like Star Wars meets The Phantom or The Rocketeer or some such.

I can't wait.

this is how I think the PT should of been. My logic is that ANH was made in 1975, and TPM takes place 30 years earlier so all the technology/hairstyles/art design should be molded off of sci-fi from 1945 era.

But then I'm one of those weird people who thinks they should of tried to make the FX looked dated to complete the illusion. the movie 'CQ' did that wonderfully

Well i linked the main site at two other boards,SCN and t[a]p......i`ll wait until its available outside apple or on tv to see the trailer,cause quicktime take over everything in my pc,damn commie software

No, no, no. Anything non-Quicktime is Commie software because it only works properly on PCs (I'm referring to Windows Media format). Quicktime works on both PC and Mac and, therefore, makes it non-Commie in its universality of platform.

Just the two Lincolns of a fervent Mac-head.

Neither. I work for a University and own a Mac. That's about it.

Let me guess, you either work for or have invested in Microsoft?

It goes both ways.

I've immediately thought about this one. And about how those old comic series (like Batman or Capt. America) looked back in 1940s.

Bonus question:

Who won this edition of the race?

I own a PC and I hate it. I'd much rather have a Mac, and I'm not a comp guy.

Out of curiosity to you PC owners. What kinds of PCs have you owned? Which do you hate and which do you swear by? My wife had an early Pentium series Dell and loved it. It's six years old now and still runs. Has its problems (mostly Web related) but it runs. I owned an NEC that I loved. It worked beautifully and never gave me an iota of a problem. Just became too outdated.

That's the only reason I don't bother much with PCs. They get too outmoded too damn quick. Yes, Macs do get outdated, but it takes a far greater amount of time than it does with a PC. Not until the very latest versions of Adobe software have I run into a situation where my four-year-old Mac PowerBook wouldn't run them. They're made for OSX+ only or so I think (it could just be the versions purchased for the office). The versions before that would run on OSX but would open up an OS9 window within OSX to run. So even new software would work on both and conflicts weren't an issue.

I will never touch another Gateway again no matter what. I've had two as office machines and they suck. Right now I'm running an OmniTech in my office. It's nice. Haven't had any problems with it yet. It's running WinXP. My Mac G5 is running OSX.2 Jaguar and I love it.

THAT WAS AWESOME !!! I WONDER IF IT'S GOING UP AGAINST HP3 OR SM2...HMM... I FEEL SORRY FOR THE STUDIO THAT MUST FACE THIS FILM. THE TRAILER ALONE WAS A GREAT MINI MOVIE. I LOVE THE USE OF THE SEPIA TONES WHICH GIVE IT THAT CLASSIC LOOK AND FEEL. THIS MOVIE IS GOING TO BE HUGE. THIS IS THE WAY THE ROCKETEER SHOULD HAVE BEEN DONE. I WOULD LOVE TO SEE A TEAM UP OF SKY CAPTAIN AND THE ROCKETEER. WITH ALL OF THE CROSSOVER MOVIES I COULD REALLY SEE IT HAPPENING AS LONG AS IT'S IN THIS STYLE.

Duh, it does, as this is the plane that won this edition of the race - P.6

Note the white-red stripe on the fuselage... and think again

I'm sure it helps if you can pick out planes just by looking at them. Especially ones that are a decade and a half older than my dad. Unless I can read a name on the side of the plane, this pic ain't gonna help worth diddley. I can't exactly take a photo of an old plane and insert it in the search line on Google to find out what it is (although that would be nice).
