The Republican Party will keep getting worse if it doesn’t turn around. Trump was a logical next step in the evolution (or devolution) of the Republican Party, but he isn’t the logical conclusion. He’s an obese 72-year-old. He’ll be dead soon. I worry about what the people that worshipped him will support next.

Don’t worry. They’re obese 72-year-olds. They’ll be dead soon.

VIZ TOP TIPS! - PARENTS. Impress your children by showing them a floppy disk and telling them it’s a 3D model of a save icon.

The problem, at least from what I see online (which is admittedly anecdotal), is that a lot of younger people are buying in to this Trump shit. The alt-right appeals largely to young involuntary-celibates and that seems to be what most of it is made up of.

Anectdotal‽

It’s interesting seeing the tourists, including many kids, in DC with MAGA hats they bought as souvenirs. Definitely not as prevalent as Obama gear during his time, but not rare either.

The Trump people have been mobilized. He’s historically unpopular but among the people foolish enough to like him, he’s extremely popular.

Of course they were wearing MAGA hats.

Wearing a MAGA hat can mean a lot of things, some of them being “I’m a racist” and “I’m a xenophobe” and “I’m a misogynist.” Personally I wouldn’t wear something that open to interpretation.

Then again I wouldn’t wear an Obama shirt in public either. I’m not looking for attention.

You left out “I might not be a racist, xenophobe, or misogynist, but I’m still an ignorant clown.”

Then again I wouldn’t wear an Obama shirt in public either. I’m not looking for attention.

If you did then I’d have to assume you’re a corporate centrist that only pretends to care about the common man. Or maybe you’re a leftist that does care about the common man that doesn’t realize Obama is a corporate centrist that only pretends to care about the common man. Too much room for interpretation.

All politicians pretend to care to some extent. And many to a much larger extent.

Did you wear an Obama shirt in private? Maybe on laundry day?

I had an extended family member who, after the 2008 election, had a “Palin 2012” sticker on her car.

Well, 2012 was supposed to be the end of the world, so it makes sense. 😉

The world already ended, it’s just nobody has noticed yet.

You’d think every day being Tuesday would have tipped people off though.

Palin was almost as bad as Trump. Really when you think about her popularity, Trump should be no surprise.

I thought a good part of Palin’s appeal was she that gave aging politicians a woody? 😉

The main difference was that she had no power. She might also have not been so obviously “ist” on a bunch of stuff but I honestly can’t remember. I’m assuming she didn’t grab anyone by the pussy, at least, though I can’t confirm either.

Politically she had some experience and clout and she was morally (at least on a personal level) less repugnant, but her insanity and demagoguery were very much a precursor to Trump. She was also represented a lot of what would become the Tea Party. You may not remember, but her being the White House, even just as VP, was nearly as terrifying as the prospect of Trump.

Oh I remember. I also remember when GW was the worst president ever.

He was another step in the direction of Trump, especially when you consider how proudly devoid of intellectual prowess he was.
