(THIS EDIT IS ABANDONED, SORRY)

Introduction

Having watched That Guy Who Edit’s Batman Forever: The Tim Burton Cut, I came to decide that I could improve upon it, at least for my own viewing.

And so I must say, that this edit, is just as much TGWE’s edit as it is my own, for I used his edit as a source to make my own, switching between the theatrical release audio and that of the Tim Burton cut.

Many of the cuts in this edit will be identical to that of the TB cut.

But, alas, I do feel that I could consider this my edit, and so, with that said, I shall move on to the changes.

Changelist:

  • scene by scene colour correction, often matching Bruce’s emotions or the scene’s tone, hopefully making the film more visually appealing, dark, more emotive
  • added the classic Warner Bros. opening, minus the piano
  • cold open to Edward’s introduction
  • suit up in the style of the TB cut, followed by the drive out the bat cave and into Gotham, using footage from Batman driving to the signal to meet Chase in the theatrical release
  • cut to Two-Face’ coin mid air, skipping the establishing shots of the bank
  • removed Two-Face’ laughs, ‘are you a gambling man?’, ‘blind, simple, stupid, doo da. clueless luck’
  • cut from ‘another day of wine and roses’ so Two-Face actually keeps his word
  • cut directly to Batman’s line ‘Two-Face?’, so no bad CGI Batman rappelling down to Chase and Gordon
  • removed almost every instance of Chase showing attraction to Batman throughout the film
  • limited Two-Face campy moments in the elevator fight
  • removed Batman defeating two of the thugs as I felt the BatElectrocuter thing was just silly, now they just fall unconscious when Batman kicks them, as you’d expect
  • loosely followed TGWE’s helicopter fight cuts
  • followed the TB Cut of the Stickley’s death, Stickley’s suicide, and the riddles scenes
  • lowered saturation and brightness mid shot as Bruce hears Chase’s grunting and impact noises, signifying Batman coming out, with him leaving as he realizes his mistake
  • cut Bruce’s ‘I have an appointment, I’m Bruce Wayne’ line so he makes a quick quip and apologizes without introducing himself, like Chase wouldn’t know who he was
  • removed Gossip Gerty from the circus scene
  • removed Bruce and Chase’s conversation at the circus so as to remove the attraction to Batman
  • added the Batman’s colour correction when Two-Face reveals himself, he know he has to do something
  • removed Edward’s ridiculous forced laugh when Harvey screams ‘dead’
  • removed ‘… pasty faced twits…’ now the line is ‘odds are one of yous is Batman’
  • ‘Harvey I’m Batman!’ shortened to ‘Harvey!’
  • removed Two-Face’ cackling
  • removed ‘Our lucky day!’
  • removed Two-Face’ cackling as he exits
  • removed Dick’s most condescending lines and moments, hopefully making him more sympathetic, and less painful to watch
  • Bruce doesn’t get called during the dream scene
  • followed TGWE’s cut of the Two-Face lair scene
  • moved the car chase to after the two baddies team up, Two-Face chases Batman to distract him from the Riddler, who’s busy robbing places
  • refined the car chase segment
  • added an easter egg to the end of the car chase
  • the training scene through to Dick finding the Bat cave kept the same as in the Burton Cut
  • mix of Burton cut and theatrical release for the Chase and Bruce scene
  • skip from Alfred calling Bruce to the Dick and Bruce scene
  • Dick and Bruce scene the same as in the Burton cut
  • Burton Cut Ritz Gotham scene until Two-Face arrives, where the audio reverts to the theatrical cut due to missing sfx and a superior score
  • light flashes added after Two-Face shoots the light display, used to join cuts and spice up the fight, like the camera flash in Batman 1989
  • made the height from the window to the subway area shorter
  • lengthened the pause between the gravel falling and Dick grabbing Bruce’s hand
  • removed the ‘Batboy, Nightwing?’ line
  • Burton cut style ‘Who am I’ scene
  • removed the Chase’s apartment scene
  • refined the ‘Bats on the Brain’ scene
  • the last Riddle scene placed after the ‘Bats on the Brain’ scene
  • ‘Batman is No More’ placed here in its entirety
  • refined the ‘Bruce’s Memories’ and ‘Invasion of Wayne Manner’ scenes
  • less of the Riddler’s Ace Ventura impression, it ruins the wait of the scene
  • Two-Face only flips his coin twice, the first he doesn’t check, the second is the one he wanted
  • followed the Burton cut till the end of the Red Book deleted scene, where I cut the ‘I’m Batman, Alfred’ moment
  • original score used for the end of the third act, with the original Batman theme being used as the Batman and Robin theme, though the Elfman theme is used for just Batman
  • Riddler and Two-Face DON"T PLAY FUCKING BATTLESHIP!
  • Robin isn’t a dullard, rushing ahead of Batman, instead, the island raises right under him
  • fewer silly Two-Face moments during the climax
  • removed ‘Bummer’
  • removed the Batman dive sound effect
  • Burton Cut audio used for the ‘Why can’t I kill you’ moment
  • Elfman theme Reprise replaces the Goldenthaal theme reprise
  • Credits slowed, with the ‘Batman Them Reprise’, ‘Descent into Mystery’, and ‘Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me’ to score it
  • Blue Bat symbol turned grey
  • Editor’s credit post credits with special thanks to TGWE

Woooow alot interesting cuts here & additions from my BC as well although kinda bummed out that the battleship sequence is cut cause i thought having a a new track made that scene worked perfectly but to each their own.
😛

You either die a trilogy or live long enough to see yourself become batman & robin.

Meh, I’m happy with how well simple it was to cut it out, honestly the music flows reasonably well that way. And I think that while it fits well as something Burton would have done - Returns in particular had a lot of goofy shit - I feel it’s too dumb for a serious edit.
Though I do think your version was more bearable than the theatrical version.

Well that’s one of the reasons why i left it in my BC cause of BR’s goofiness (I.E the giant rubber duck & penguin controlling the batmobile with a miniature toy batmobile in his trailer.) but hey understandable & won’t hold that against you but i can’t wait to see the final product.

can’t wait to see the final product.

Thanks a bunch for the support, dude.
In one reply to your thread someone referred to you as Chris, is this your actual name?

Christopher actually but if you want to call me by my name feel free just “Christopher” not “Chris” k?

Alright, then it’s Christopher I shall call you.

Anyways, I’ll be trying to work out the few remaining kinks I’ve noticed and get version 0.5 out within a week or so - I won’t call it version one as I’d like to give that to a less rough cut. I’ve taken a week or two off of it as I seemed too have gotten to into it.
I hope to be able to say I’ve finished this version, even if it is a basic version.

Hey take your time & don’t rush cause the last thing you need is your edit to be half-assed so again take all the time you need to prefect it.

Quite intrigued in this “version 0.5” you’re hoping to put out. Can’t wait to see it.

Can’t wait to see this, might actual like this film with out wanting to murder someone and burn it at the stake. If you can do the same to Batman and Robin and make it into a great film the I don’t want to sacrifice to Cathulu in apology on the part of humanity, then I will praise you as the second coming of Jesus! Anyway do you have any idea when the first version will be released?

I’ve been taking a break from this - not entirely intentional, but spending 12 hours a day on and off for a month will make you stop doing something before you lose your mind - but I hope to have it out within the coming weeks, I might make a trailer so as to get myself back into it.
In the mean time I’d highly recommend checking out Christoper TGWE’s edit if you haven’t.

That film’s theatrical release damn near polished off any interest I had in the genre. It’s successor really did.
Nolan’s kinda resurrected it for a while, but that’s a different genre now to my mind. The 1989 production design was very compelling though so I’m interested to see this one. Best of luck with it.

Indeed, it has been a while since I have done any editing on this, though I have finished another edit, which I shall likely post within the next two years, lol.

I feel as though my interest in this edit and film is slowly returning, though I did learn that the copy of the film is many minutes shorter than the theatrical film, seeing as it is the Australian release.
Apologies for the delay in the release of this edit, I have no current release date, but hopefully my other edit will be of some interest, 😉
Appreciate the interest and apologies for not delivering.

Sincerely, Dixon.

Spider-Man…

Okay, it could either be one of the Sam Raimi ones, the Andrew Garfield ones, or the MCU flick…
