There’s a quote in there from the sheriff that encapsulates why I hate cops and it’s “I don’t make the law. I enforce the law.” That’s disgusting. That was more or less the same logic behind the defense of the Nazis at Nuremberg Trials. If you are enforcing unjust and bullshit laws, then you’re part of problem.

So you want cops to decide for themselves which laws are just and unjust? You really want cops to decide for themselves which laws they are going to enforce and which they are not? You really want to give cops that much power? I thought you didn’t like cops, I thought you didn’t trust them? You do realize that cops won’t always agree with you on which laws are just/unjust and which laws should be enforced, right?

I will say however that I having difficulty seeing how “stand your ground” justifies this shooting.

The situation of the holocaust was an extreme. “I don’t make the law. I enforce the law.” is the way it works. Our elected representatives make the laws, not cops. Its called democracy. Does this mean there are no extreme circumstances where a cop should disregard a certain law/decide not to enforce a certain law? No. But for the most part, I don’t think we want cops to decide which law to enforce. Please remember the law is not a suggestion or advice.

Another thing to remember is even if the sheriff did arrest the guy, “stand your ground” would be bound to come up in court. Would you want the judge to just ignore the law as well?
