Ok that does it!

How in yoda's name do you whip up these 3d look for your covers? Can you use a freeware prog to do it and does anyone have a template for this?
This is cool looking and a nice way to show them...

By the way Knolly those clone wars covers are awesome. I am noy usualy a big fan of the inksaver covers, but those just fit well!

Well, initially everyone just rendered them out of 3D programs, then those without started faking it it 2D graphics programs by adding a black border, add perspective via warping, combine all the sides, add shadows, etc. Luckily though now there are several programs that are designed for this, most aren't free, but I believe a lot of people now use IMANDIX. There's maybe a more popular equivalent, but I don't know about it yet. Never used any of these methods myself yet, so I can't help you out further unfortunately.

[edit]Here you go, my first cover render...

Ooh, a laserdisc. The Cheat's playin' something on a laserdisc.
Everything is better on a laserdisc. Whatever happened to the laserdisc? Laserdisc!

Yep, I use Imandix. Good stuff, and free too.
I'm satisfied enough with my covers to release them, although I'm still going to try working on that Volume bit issue. I already printed a set for my personal use, and am very pleased with it... I'll put up some pics soon.

Gundrosen - First and foremost, great covers! However, something has always bothered me about the back...it just looks a little TOO plain and TOO white. My suggestion is to maybe add two vehicles right under the movie descriptions:

EPIV - X-Wing and Tie Fighter
EPV - Snow Speeder and Walker
EPVI - Forest Speeder and AT-AT

I may not have used the proper Star Wars names for those vehicles, but you get the idea. Anybody agree that those additions would look good?

Galatians 2: 20: I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

Gundrosen, I was wondering, as I am trying to make a cover for Ewoks, what font did you use on the back of your covers for the main text and spine, and it is possible that I could have that font.
Rock. Nirvana. Awsomeness.

Watch the credits at the end of Star Wars. Your question will be answered.

I really like the above Sith cover.

And I dig all the Clone Wars covers I've ever seen (really like the side-by-side with the connecting spine picture)... except for the official one-- it's just kinda blah.

The thing I dislike most about the official prequel logos/posters is the focus not being on the title of the movie, but on its Episode number, which was then continued on the OT box set. It's almost disrespect for the fact the movies have actual titles. I'd love to see the ROTJ-like Sith logo on a cover, which was on t-shirts a while back. And I believe included in a slipcase on the UK release of the Sith soundtrack-- and it looks awesome.

Another peeve is the fact that Hayden Christensen looks exactly like Thomas Haden Church (Sideways, TV's "Wings") on the Sith poster artwork. Thomas Ha(y)den Christ(Church)ensen. Conspiracy? I think so.
We don't have enough road to get up to 88.
