AFAIK, there is no 720p24 standard in the HDTV specifications, but this limit is not related to HDMI. Could you please tell me more about the HDMI-supported resolutions?

Wow, that’s actually harder to find that you’d think, most places just list maximums. I only know Blu-ray players cannot and will not pass 720p24 natively to a display over HDMI. IIRC it is related to HDMI, but I suppose it could be the HDTV failing to support the resolution at the other end.
