This is what our culture has become. We live in a social media driven word where clicks matter most, and what gets the most clicks? Negativity. All that negativity has actually had an affect on how people process entertainment. They don’t go into a movie to enjoy the hard work, talent, and imagination of others. They go in on a seek-and-destroy mission to find everything wrong and blow it out of the water, because that’s what’s cool now.

I am certainly not advocating the switching off of brains. Nothing wrong with examining something critically, and it should be able to stand up to normal critique, but it has gone to a detrimental extreme. People think they actually know better than highly paid, award winning professionals. Much of their criticism is more personal taste and not artistic merit, but the bashing is all that matters.

If people would just go into things with a different mindset, one of a desire to appreciate, not nitpick. If they could stop thinking about how they would do it better and just enjoy the work of art that thousands of people came together to make for them, I think they would enjoy themselves a whole lot more often.
