I do. You’re wrong. That’s what I say.

Judo chop, yes. Fists? No. Fist fights usually involve a punch to the face?

Semantics. It’s a dinosaur. It’s the slowest dinosaur ever, and it’s using its hands, not its teeth. It does use it’s teeth eventually, but long after establishing it’s absolutely, unbelievably, unrealistically horrible at unarmed melee combat.

Most dinosaurs don’t command starships, or make knives out of obsidian. And it was freaking cold on the planetoid.
😉

And I’d like to see Kirk throw a boulder like that.

My point is people paint other Trek series with different paintbrush. People don’t like them because they’ve decided not to, not because they suck. TOS is not objectively superior—people just have nostalgia for it because some of the episodes spoke to civil rights issues happening back in the day.

You can like it or don’t, but Enterprise doesn’t suck just because it can’t live up to some unreachable nostalgic standard TOS sets.

I’m not interested in Enterprise for the same reasons I’m not interested in Voyager (3rd rate TNG clone that wastes its potential) or prequels in general (retcon action hour!).

You are an ass. And you’re completely off base on why I hate Enterprise. Look at Tobar’s posts again.

Okay, let’s not get too emotional here.

Guys, it’s star trek. You’re acting like it’s about TLJ.

What about where he said I was objectively wrong and proceeded to tell me why I like the things I do? I don’t need anyone telling me why I think the way I do while they prop themselves up on faulty logic and off-base reasoning.

TMP could have been the TLJ of Trek, had there been social media at the time.

I didn’t perceive any of that. I really didn’t, I’m just being honest with y’all.

I didn’t say it was objective. I just said I say you’re wrong. And it was in jest. You said you don’t know what to say and so I said I did. No personal offense was intended and I apologize if it was received that way.

You can like what you like and that’s fine. I just say that I’m of the opinion that many people’s hate for Enterprise, DS9, or Voyager is largely unfair or based on nostalgic bias. Certainly there are bad episodes, but TOS and TNG are not exempt from that criticism either. Voyager and Enterprise having a similar premise to TNG doesn’t make them bad. I put them in the category of “if it ain’t broke…”

More of the same isn’t a bad thing if what is the same is what was good about the prior content. I mean, if people’s primary complaint about them is that they’re too much like TNG, and I loved TNG, then I don’t see the problem. Further, no one is leveling that complaint against The Orville when its similarity to TNG is deliberate.

Yes, let’s bring more people in who are in no way veterans of the franchise or know what makes Trek feel like Trek.

That’s ridiculous. Only people who are Trek veterans are allowed to work on Trek? Come on.

Not necessarily, but the production crew working on Discovery don’t seem to care much about making it feel remotely like the franchise it belongs to. Hiring people already familiar with the franchise has the potential at least to help in that regard. Granted, at this point, when I see some news article about Picard maybe having a role in Discovery I just sigh and move on because the series is already pretty much DOA as far as being a quality Prime Universe Star Trek series.

Well having SOME people who understand Star Trek on board would be nice

Without knowing anything about this situation, it reminds me of people complaining that Rian doesn’t “get” Star Wars.

You don’t have to be a veteran to “get” Star Trek.

Also, I don’t think the show’s main issue is “not getting Star Trek.”

I thought the Picard thing was a separate show? Nothing to do with Discovery.
