Would it be possible to conform it to a BD-25 or even BD-50 compatible ISO?

Small Update: While on the hunt for the rarer dub tracks [Cantonese and (Unconfirmed) Hebrew] I was able to find a version of the Japanese track with dubbed songs, It will be included in the next release.

Actually, I found out by comparing it to the Laserdisc, it is actually a completely different dub, the Japanese VHS release and the Japanese Laserdisc release are 2 different dubs.

I am looking for various things if people are willing to rip them

Hong Kong Laserdisc
Lossless or Raw audio rips from either the British VHS or the Japanese Laserdisc
Melodie Van Het Zuiden [Dutch Dub]
Onkel Remus Forteller [Possible Norwegian Dub]
Farbror Remus Berättar/Sången om Södern [Possible Swedish Dub]
שירת הדרום (shyrt hdrvm)[Possible Hebrew Dub]

Any dub that you find, the tracks I have for some of the languages are really jank and if you rip your vhs it’s probably better than the ones I currently have, which a lot of them come off of sketchy sites. Also some dubs were apparently only made for TV [such as a Hungarian dub that was discovered and posted on Myspleen] So any dub that you find of Song Of The South would be a great addition as a optional track.

Updated: Just upgraded from Gimp/Vegas/Virtualdub to PFclean/Vegas, right now I am able to hand clean frames a lot faster than before! expect a September/October release for V3.

Looks good!

I downloaded V2 off of Myspleen and tried making a Blu-ray copy of it using TS Muxer, but the resulting disc wouldn’t play (got only audio). Any ideas?

question, are you working from raw uncompressed scans, or are you using the mpeg2 encoded version from myspleen, or something else altogether?

I too used tsmuxer on the v2 of Notelu’s restoration project and chose blu-Ray iso and blu-Ray folder with same results as you. Hoping v3 iso will correct this. Notelu: any update on the status? Thanks for all of your and everyone’s hard work!

The current version of the restoration is not Blu-Ray compatible sadly. But V3 of the restoration will be. (Hopefully)

If you’re wondering how I know this, I’m working on the project with Notelu.

Will the missing frames from the currently-circulating 1080p version be restored? (AFAIR the Buena Vista logo and another bit of the opening credits had missing frames on my 1080p copy.)

What do you mean by your copy?

The one I had grabbed about a year or two ago from Mega. I can’t remember who restored that one, but I can remember those missing frames like I rewatched it yesterday.

Was it a 16mm print?

Progress has been very slow, Notelu has not been working on it do to school, and as for me I’ve been working on it here, and their life has been busy there have been games coming out (Smash Ulitmate, Just Cause 4, Spiderman PS4 etc.) and I’ve had family passed away recently. If you or someone you know is willing to help out with the dirt clean up, that will help out a lot. So basically progress has been slow, but the project isn’t dead, far from it.

I’d totally be happy to help out, actually. I don’t have a PFClean license though. But if you can think of a way I can help, I’m game. I’m also happy to do a color pass once it’s cleaned up, if you’d like. Color is my main specialty. 😃

Onkel Remus Forteller [Possible Norwegian Dub]

I really doubt this VHS has a Norwegian dub. I don’t think this film has been dubbed to Norwegian at all, to be honest. There are several newspaper articles from 1951 mentioning that “Alice in Wonderland” is the first animated Disney movie to be dubbed in Norwegian (live action movies weren’t dubbed at all in this era, apart from voice over work on documentaries). Alice premiered Christmas 1951, while Song of the South (titled “Sydens Sang”) premiered in May 1951. (“Fun and Fancy Free” was actually dubbed before Alice, but it wasn’t released to cinemas until April 1952.)

Anyway - the theatrical reviews for Song of the South does not mention Norwegian voices, which they would have done if the movie was dubbed. The VHS cover specifies Norwegian subtitles, which it would not have had if the audio track was Norwegian.

The company that released Disney movies on VHS in the early 80’s would use the Norwegian track if it existed. But, they would not create a new Norwegian dub for releases that wasn’t already dubbed. In fact, several of their releases include the Swedish dub with Norwegian subtitles.

Unfortunately, I don’t have the tape, so I can’t absolutely guarantee that it doesn’t have a Norwegian dub. But, I highly doubt it.

Farbror Remus Berättar/Sången om Södern [Possible Swedish Dub]

So… If the movie was dubbed in Swedish, and the Swedish dub was released on VHS in Sweden, the Norwegian tape probably also used the Swedish dub. I will try to find out if the Swedish VHS has Swedish audio or not, and look for either the Norwegian or the Swedish tape if it does.
