Why even post in this thread if you’re incapable of having an argument on something?
unwilling is different than incapable.
True. It’s even worse.
It depends on the circumstances.

I love how after multiple requests from multiple different people for someone to explain why illegal immigration is a problem, there’s been no response other than what boils down to “because it is one.”
So I guess I’ve seeing and hearing things when I’ve been watching, listening to, and reading the news for years. Ok.
Tell me, if someone were to say to you that abortion is not a huge and controversial issue, would you waste time trying to convince the guy that he was wrong?

It’s certainly possible.
Ha ha.

No one said that. Illegal immigration is a controversial issue, but it isn’t a threat to the nation. The right wing has portrayed it as a threat to the nation when it isn’t one. Read the articles I shared. I know you won’t, but if you did then you might actually understand what we’re talking about.

You’re just making yourself look really embarrassing by refusing to explain yourself after smearing someone. We don’t even know what your stance is other than that because a lot of news articles focus on illegal immigration (regardless of what those articles say) then it must be a severe problem in this country. That is ridiculous. Donald Trump makes more compelling and articulate arguments for himself than you are right now.

I’m not saying it isn’t a controversial issue. It clearly is. I’m saying that I’d like to hear some of the reasons people think having much fewer restrictions on it is a bad thing, because I’ve yet to hear an argument that convinces me we need to be cracking down the way so many seem to think we do.
Note that everything I just said applies equally to my views on abortion, since you brought that up.
Basically, it’s a controversial issue because people think it’s a problem. I’m not convinced it’s a problem at all, and anytime someone here has been asked why they think it is, the answer seems to be “it just is” with no reasoning given.
Oh. My. God.
Oh. My. God.
What?
You said that you don’t think abortion is a huge and controversial issue.
You said that you don’t think abortion is a huge and controversial issue.
Actually he said the exact opposite.
It is a huge and controversial issue, but not a huge problem.
An issue because people argue about it all the time, yes.
But should they? Is it really a problem worthy of being a huge issue?
You said that you don’t think abortion is a huge and controversial issue.
That’s exactly the opposite of what I said. Read my post again.
JEDIT: Dahmage got it.
I’m not saying it isn’t a controversial issue. It clearly is.

Holy fucking shit fuck. What post did you read?
The Person in Question
Okay, I misread the post.
With that said, I give up.
Why do you even need to give up? Why not just participate in the discussion by explaining your position? Either do that, or don’t say anything at all, but don’t act like everyone else is a moron for not agreeing with you and then refuse to even say what your position is and why. I’m totally cool with calling dissenters drunk or morons or whatever, but only if you at least tell us why we’re drunk.
The Person in Question
Warbler: Why is illegal immigration a problem?

Quit drinking. He could explain it to you, but he won’t. But believe me, his explanation would be AMAZING.

I don’t take you seriously because I don’t believe you really want to die. People who think life isn’t worth living don’t spend their time debating topics that are largely about quality of life.
I find this post terribly irresponsible. What if you’re wrong?
That would be unfortunate. mfm should seek help, but he’s said repeatedly he won’t seek any form of treatment.
I’d like him to stop referencing the meaninglessness of life as if it’s a supporting argument. I’d also like him to stop mapping his feelings about life and death onto everyone else (“Why would anyone want to live longer?”). Whether he really wants to die or not, almost everyone else doesn’t. I won’t indulge that. Suicide has affected me personally several times. I can assure you I take it seriously.
Then why say this?
People who think life isn’t worth living don’t spend their time debating topics that are largely about quality of life.
That’s an extraordinarily broad and potentially dangerous brush to paint with, independent of mfm specifically. Is this based solely on your personal experiences that you’re referencing, based on anecdotal information, or based on academic studies? I’m asking legitimately because I don’t know the answer, it just strikes me as an unlikely absolute.
It’s based on nothing. He might as well have said that “People who think life isn’t worth living don’t spend their time encouraging people to travel the world and experience the excitement and diversity of human culture and cuisine,” or make music, or write books, or whatever. It’s ironically a totally irrational statement, which is what I’m supposed to be guilty of. And I didn’t even say that I wanted to kill myself, by the way.

I haven’t seen those questions/exchanges.
As I said, I start from the premise that immigration law is good and necessary. Illegal immigration is a threat to our security because we don’t know who is coming in, the overall impact on our economy is arguable but there is some negative impact, illegal immigration results in a permanent second-class status for millions of people, crimes go unreported out of fear, gangs like MS13 profit from it, it is unfair to those who follow the law to become citizens, among other reasons.
The blue elephant in the room.
The Supreme Court (Roberts and the “liberals,” if I’m permitted to use that term) held today that government needs a warrant to obtain your cellphone location records. Great decision.
The blue elephant in the room.
You can use that term. It’s how it’s been being used that is causing the objection I think.
There’s a significant problem with illegal immigration: It’s actually pretty hard to legally immigrate, if this infographic is still up to date.
Now, barring that part, The process of dealing with illegal immigration should not be built on separating children from families, and even deportation might be a little strong when it comes to what these families are trying to escape from. Likely, illegal immigrants should be given due process for y’know, being able to legally become American citizens.
