That is a very plausible theory , I have both the first and second issues of that Special Edition comic from here in the U.S. , As I understand it , it was published with both Marvel and a Whitman publishing logo , I think the Whitman may have been intended for big box stores like K-Mart etc. Not sure if Whitman extended to the U.K. so that would be something to research.
