People don’t grasp the concept of a box office bomb anymore, if they ever did at all. And we seldom ever hear about home video grosses, which ought to count towards whether a movie is considered profitable or not. (It was Austin Powers’ popularity on home video that helped greenlight a sequel, or so I’ve heard.) In this day and age a video rental ought to count as much as a movie ticket.
