I’ve been saving up Amazon Gift Cards I’ve acquired until I have enough to buy an inexpensive guitar (a Squier Bullet stratocaster by Fender) and a copy of Rocksmith 2014 to teach myself how to play.
I don’t recommend a fender squire. Remember you pay for the name when you get a fender. If it was cash I would say you’re better off getting a used guitar that’s better (as long as they were well cared for an old guitar that was a better model will always be better than a new cheap model). But since you are going the Amazon route, I recommend getting a cheap Sawtooth guitar. They are the same price but a bit higher quality as you are not paying for the name.
Well, I got a guitar. It will be delivered today.
I got a Sawtooth kit, primarily because of Possessed’s recommendation. I really was leaning toward getting a Fender Squier, even if I’d pay more for the name, and probably because of the name. But I kept talking myself out of it. For one thing, I want a kit and the Squier kit on Amazon is ever-so-slightly out of my price range. I’m a complete newb at guitar and don’t want to front significant money (yet) for a hobby I may not stick with.
So in the end, I decided to give Possessed the benefit of the doubt regarding Sawtooth not being worse than Squier for less money.
