I thought it was my job to deprecate ROTJ.
Had the saga stayed a trilogy, deprecating RotJ is something I would understand (when I saw it again in 2004 with the dvd released I was under shock: “oh… that’s how the OT dies… with thunderous ewoks”). With the hindsight given by episodes that are no way as good (or “as less bad”), I don’t waste time against it anymore. I even now like it quite a lot. The qualities outrank the bad sides. I still think it’s better than anything released after 1983 (even if I like RotS and I find TPM and TLJ very decent… I may rank TLJ higher than TPM one day, still undecided yet…). But I totally get it can be hated as the episode that rings the bell of SW not being that awesome anymore after two masterpieces.

I’m Malà … blah blah blah. Lucas is God, Disney is Satan … blah blah blah. I think my opinion’s so big … blah blah blah.
I’m undecided on Solo and Last Jedi, they’re basically a tie.
Unpopular opinion: Despite his unreasonable 0/10 ranking of Rogue One, I find Mala’s opinions to be interesting and fun to read.
Yes.
Not enough people read the EU.
empire strikes back
star wars
last jedi
force awakens
rogue one
revenge of the sith
return of the jedi
solo
phantom menace
attack of the clones
edit: return of the jedi used to be my favorite of the three, before the prequels (i started watching the movies on vhs in the 90s before the special edition was released in theaters). in retrospect, i’m surprised they made 4 more films i like more than that one. i haven’t seen the animated clone wars movie in a long time.
Unpopular opinion: Despite his unreasonable 0/10 ranking of Rogue One, I find Mala’s opinions to be interesting and fun to read.
I give it 2/10 now ! (don’t ask me why… maybe because I feel no SW should deserve 0… and I like the soundtrack, the visual, and even if it doesn’t make much sense at a story level, the Vader’s big scene is brillant).
Okay real ranking. Let’s be honest, none of these films are 0/10 unless you haven’t seen many other movies. Even if you truly hate them, there’s a wealth of awful stuff out there.
Star Wars: 9/10
Empire: 9/10
Jedi: 8/10
TLJ: 7/10
TFA: 6/10
SOLO: 5/10
ROGUE ONE: 4/10
Others: 2/10
4: TFW
The Force Wakens?
The Force Weakens?
“People who alter or destroy works of art and our cultural heritage for profit or as an exercise of power are barbarians”
“In the future it will become even easier for old negatives to become lost and be “replaced” by new altered negatives. This would be a great loss to our society. Our cultural history must not be allowed to be rewritten.” --George Lucas on March 3, 1988
Having seen Solo once:
Empire Strikes Back
A New Hope
Rogue One
Revenge of the Sith
Return of the Jedi
The Last Jedi
The Force Awakens
Solo
Attack of the Clone
The Phantom Menace
Roughly this:
1 TESB
2 ANH
3 ROTJ
4 ROTS
5-7 TPM, AOTC and TFA (in release order)Lunacy.
When was the last time you actually watched the PT? I watched them all over the past few weeks, including ROTS last night. We watched L8wrtr’s versions, so the worst of them is removed…and they’re still not good movies. I don’t have a problem if you didn’t like TFA, but equating them with the PT makes me wonder how well you remember the PT.
I assure you I highly dislike the PT, as both movies and part of the SW canon, but there are equally pros and cons in both the PT and TFA: I consider all of them mediocre, but each one of them for very different reasons.
Therein lies the problem. If you think TFA is mediocre, I disagree but I allow you that opinion. If you think the PT is only mediocre, I think that’s poor judgement or maybe just a failure to remember. Again, when was the last time you saw the PT?
I don’t know why people puts the force awakens up on such a high pedestal. Name me one damn thing in it that’s actually original?
Reality sucks, watch movies.
Yeah it’s not very original but the characters are so great I still enjoy it a great deal. It definitely has emotional weight and a nice tone except some of the humor.

I give it 2/10 now ! (don’t ask me why… maybe because I feel no SW should deserve 0… and I like the soundtrack, the visual, and even if it doesn’t make much sense at a story level, the Vader’s big scene is brillant).
Rogue One’s story doesn’t make much sense?!! WHAT THE FUCK! I’m gonna have to leave this forum because of the goddamn stupidity that you assholes spew from your shit-holes!!

That’s a rather extreme reaction to Mala being Mala.

I’m far from a fan of Mala, but goddamn.
The Empire Strikes Back
A New Hope
Solo
Return Of The Jedi
Rogue One
The Force Awakens
The Phantom Menace
Revenge Of The Sith
The Last Jedi
Attack Of The Clones
The order of films in the top two tiers is virtually interchangeable. The films in the bottom tier I don’t need to see ever again.
1./2. Star Wars / The Empire Strikes Back
3. The Force Awakens
4. Return of the Jedi
5. Attack of the Clones
6. The Phantom Menace
7. Rogue One
8. Revenge of the Shit
9. Solo
10. Clone Wars
11. The Star Wars Holiday Special
12. Caravan of Courage
13. Battle of Endor
14. The Last Jedi

While my ranking for RO is around 6/10, I agree that the plot doesn’t make much sense. I’ll explain my opinion so you can get an idea where the other side is coming from:
RO should have been an easy film to make. The very premise writes itself- the rebels need to steal the Death Star plans. Why they need to over complicate this is beyond me. The rebels are initially focused on the “pilot” but Bodhi doesn’t have the actual information only a hologram. So Jyn sees the hologram and we learn that he has implemented a weakness in the Death Star towards the end of the first act and the movie should be now over.
Are you seriously telling me Jyn and co sacrificed their lives not for the battle plans but so the rebels would ‘believe them’? The rebels could have their fleet that was deciminated at the end of the movie to the DS and while they would of lost (Luke wouldn’t be there) it would have made far more sense. And if the plans weren’t in the hologram, why? If Galen has access to them it would have been smart to share them with his allies rather than tell them without evidence.
Then they go to Eadu which could be interesting but with little character development falls on it’s face. It’s only at Scarif when things get good- they finnally get to stealing plans.
RO should have spent the entire film at Scariff. A long heist for the plans, the team (which could just be an established rebel special ops squad save Jyn) slowly picked off one by one. The real RO spends 2/3 its time stalling until the end.

Another post like that and I’ll make sure of it. Consider this a warning.
Well, I saw Solo, so this is where my current ranking stands:
MASTERPIECE
Star Wars
Empire
GREAT
Jedi
TFA
TLJ
OKAY
Rogue One
Solo
TPM
SHIT
An Ewok Adventure
The Holiday Special
UNWATCHABLE
RotS
AotC
The Clone Wars
You know, I always forget there are Ewok movies. For all the problems in the PT I was never able to sit through Caravan of Courage.
Yeah the prequels in their unedited form do kinda suck but rating any of them below ewoks or the holiday special is hilarious.
