And, as a part-time video editor myself, I will say if you don't have the 'bug' for editing than you can never really understand how addictive it is. Here I can understand GL, MagFan, etc's feelings- when an editor is given raw materials, no matter how crappy they may be (ie wedding footage, vacation footage, the PT films), you have a burning desire to play and tweak and design and redesign and so on and so on...

I have spent too many nights literally awake ALL NIGHT just working on a scene or two- much to my wife's chagrin.

I have friends who are the same way with video games, building models or many other hobby pursuits. Do they consume your life? No, not usually. Can you waste some of your time working on your hobbies? Sure. Does it hurt anyone? Nope.

Klingon_Jedi hit it on the head about this debate though- if you don't like what you're reading... STOP reading it! Turn the channel! That's one of the things that sets the OT.Com forums apart from so many others- as a whole people are civil and get along, or if they don't they just post where they can be constructive. I hope it stays that way.
