Considering that I haven't seen a post by MBJ on this, I assume you meant my post. Correct me if I'm wrong.
I made that post when I was rather tired so I only addressed the things that were really bugging me at the time. One guy made a point on a different forum that if the camera was off at the time it happened, it most likely wouldn't be affected. Even cars that are off still have a current running through them. That made some sense to me. Still, I agree that it's a tad silly to make such a large point of everything not working, yet slapping that in at a time where you have no time to rationalize it.
I'm all for the "draw your own conclusions" approach to storytelling, but that wasn't really the time for it, since we had to focus on the tripod, not some dude's camera.
