C’mon the Redmen!

Prior to the 1994–95 school year, the university’s nickname was the St. John’s Redmen, which referenced the red uniforms worn by its teams in competition. The name was interpreted as a Native American reference in the 1960s, and the university did have a mascot (adorned in Native American dress), which eventually led to the team’s name change to the Red Storm. The change happened at a time when there was mounting pressure on colleges and universities to adopt names more sensitive to Native American culture.
I don’t think Liverpool players are going to be no longer be referred to as Redmen (the colour of the kit they’ve worn for over 100 years) by their fans due to an interpretation in the US on an insensitive term referring to Native Americans used in a completely different context.
I don’t what that means - in the future it may be better to explain it in words instead of an image-only post? Thanks.
On a separate note that’s the season over - though the pre-World Cup friendlies start very soon - as well as the World Cup itself on the 14th June 😃
