May he die a painful death.
Yunno, if I wished death on another forum member here, you think I'd skate with not so much as a WORD in response? And yet the guy who MAKES the movies gets a death wish placed on his head every month and no one says a thing.
Odd.
I began to realize Star Wars films were just movies right around 94 or 95. They're fun as hell, but they weren't able to stand up under the weight of all the pop culture importance that had been ladled on its shoulders. The SE's had quite a few questionable decisions, and that sealed it. The overreaction to those decisions slammed the door and threw nails in it. It became less fun, and what WAS still fun had shifted into something different. For a lot of people online, the focus of online discussions about Star Wars isn't so much to actually DISCUSS Star Wars, it's to assert oneself by way of the movie discussion medium. There's a common ground that people share, and using that common ground, they can wield conversation in a manner that doesn't really draw attention to the movie, but draws attention to their arguments and their argument style.
And for a lot of people, that's fun. It's not ALL of it, but it's gotten to be an increasingly larger part.
But that's right around when I realized the luster was off the paint job, and the new car smell had gone sour
