The Humanoid (1979), the Italian Star Wars

Forget about Starcrash, this is the best Star Wars rip-off ever made.

Like Star Wars, I think we should try to save this film for preservation purpose. I know there is a japanese LD with english audio available.

Here are some shots taken from this excellent fansite: http://www.geocities.com/golob_the_humanoid/

I've heard about this one.
“Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country.” — Nazi Reich Marshal Hermann Goering

Indeed is the movie I was thinking about. It stars Richard Keel, known as "Jaws" from "The Spy who loved me" and "Moonraker" (btw my favorite Bond character).

This movie is TERRIFYINGLY AWFUL.

I really didn't think it was possible for a movie to be blatantly this bad and such a direct rip of starwars. Ugh! And "Darth Vaders" lines are hilarious!

Some stormtroopers go down to Tatooine and fail to capture Pricess Leia. When they get back to their Star Destroyer, their leader is brought in front of Vader to explain his squad's failure. After the stormtrooper basically says "er, sorry, we failed" Vader says to this guy "You will be stripped of your privilages for 100 days!". No Darkside force choking for this guy, no "appology accepted" lines, just a slap on the wrist for the stormie and back to business!

And then at the end of the movie where he takes on "Luke" and the wierd monks with lightsabre bow-and-arrows, "Vader" actually utters the line:

"You can't stop me now, princely hero!"

I nearly shat myself laughing at that one...

I know I said this before, twice, but the single worse Star Wars rip-off ever made was this piece of crap, which is, BY FAR, BY VERY FREAKING FAR, the worse movie ever made. It's almost impossible to watch. It makes films such as "Monster a GoGo" and "Manos the Hands of Fate" look like modern cinema masterpieces.

Looks neat from the Pics. I would Rent it if I was it at the Video Store. But IMHO "SpaceBalls" is still the only Good Star Wars Rip.

What about the Turkish Star Wars?

My goodness, after checking that website I found out that I DO know this movie! I saw it only a couple of years after RotJ
Sheesh, I'd never expect to learn its title etc. after so many years...

Wow, you really hate that movie - you even posted a review to IMDb few years ago
I saw the original theatrical release of the Old Trilogy on the big screen and I'm proud of it...
How did I accomplish that (considering my age) is my secret...

I watched it on cable about 5 or 6 years ago, and I just couldn't belive how bad it was. It's really unbelivable, it reaches a whole new level of being a bad film, it's like watching someone loved being tortured, it's horrible. I taped it when it aired again, so I could torture other people with it, but I don't have the tape anymore. I heard it had a DVD release, but it's either highly unavailable or not really released.

Yeah, but they kill everyone on the planet before leaving! Quite unlike the "Star Wars" stormtroopers, these blokes seem to never miss!

I wonder if there's a market for this film besides ourselves...

Italian sci-fi afficionados, I suppose... but I don't see how that will help get a domestic release.

There is no lingerie in space…

C3PX said: Gaffer is like that hot girl in high school that you think you have a chance with even though she is way out of your league because she is sweet and not a stuck up bitch who pretends you don’t exist… then one day you spot her making out with some skinny twerp, only on second glance you realize it is the goth girl who always sits in the back of class; at that moment it dawns on you why she is never seen hanging off the arm of any of the jocks… and you realize, damn, she really is unobtainable after all. Not that that is going to stop you from dreaming… Only in this case, Gaffer is actually a guy.

L'Umanoide is up at the pirate bay.

For fans of the Turkish Star Wars check out G.O.R.A. Bir Uzay Filmi (A Space Film). It's a comedy with scifi flair and a few nods to the old Turk films and multiple SW references and is full of scifi parodies. Official Site: http://www.gorafilm.com/

Looks like it would have been great stuff for Mystery Science Theater 3000.
I'd like a qui-gon jinn please with an Obi-Wan to go.

Red heads ROCK. Blondes do not rock. Nuff said.
