Yeah, you're right, there are many smaller "keys" in between.

Though the same is true between Britain and Ireland, right? Aren't there a bunch of small islands inbetween?

So did I. Obviously I didn't think there was a bridge that started on one side and extended all the way across with no support. That would be physically impossible, I believe. Short of making the bridge out of lighter than air substances, that is.

hahaha not really it was this very thing that save civilization. irland was never invaded by the barbarians and nomadic people that destroyed rome, so thats where all the records where kept intact.

No, there's not. There are a few Islands here and there off the cost of England, but they don't spread across the sea to Ireland.
And there are a few points where the sea lies directly between Enland and Ireland without Wales getting in the way, so you're all right.
Splendid Isolation, it's what kept Britain great back in the day.

Now, surely this belongs in the long bridge club thread?

No, there's not. There are a few Islands here and there off the cost of England, but they don't spread across the sea to Ireland.
And there are a few points where the sea lies directly between Enland and Ireland without Wales getting in the way, so you're all right.
