He’s still a big player in the movie, with a throughline of committing to a cause and giving himself to it, being tested by DJ and Phasma along the way.
Someone could certainly take this edit and plug some more deleted scenes into it, though this one will probably only end up featuring less than a minute’s worth altogether. I think, if they were going to cut the Finn scenes with the fleet, it makes sense to order the final cut as they have. So, I’m going to preliminarily conclude that the ‘Luke has a moment’ scene really stands or falls based on whether to include those other scenes. Which I would rather not do. Or perhaps I could render an alternate cut with them. We’ll see, I guess.
