why would you guys not listen to the beatles?? every single album from rubber soul to the end could very well be considered the greatest ever.

I don’t care for the cut of their jib but I don’t hate them.

Hard disagree when it comes to The White Album, Let it Be, and Yellow Submarine. And I’m not the biggest Sgt. Pepper fan, but it’s objectively a great album, so…

I’ve only listened to maybe two complete Beatles albums, and Revolver could very well be the greatest album I’ve ever heard.

well they barely considered yellow submarine an album like the rest, and let it be was never properly finished. the white album is close to perfect imo. sgt peppers too.

This.

My wife has been a huge fan forever so I’ve been exposed to plenty of their work. I respect their talent and creativity and consider them one of the best bands ever from that standpoint.

The music also doesn’t do anything for me so technically I don’t like them.

True about the first two, but the White Album is a jumbled mess of random shit because they were all at each other’s throats and couldn’t agree on whose songs should make it onto the album, so they just said fuck it and threw them all on.

It has some amazing work on it and could have been their best album by a mile if they’d pared it down to a single album instead of a double, and put (some of) the rest out as singles. As it stands, it’s bloated and unfocused.

 (Edited)

Revolver is the one album by the Beatles that is considered great but I find it overall to be just good. It has some great songs and experimental tunes but as an album, I’d take Sgt. Pepper’s, Abbey Road, and even Rubber Soul over Revolver.

EDIT: I also agree with Ash about the White Album. I made my own custom single album version of it and I enjoy it much more.

Would you be willing to share your track listing for your custom White Album? I’d be interested to give it a shot.

I can’t discuss music with people because I’m the type of guy that gets furious anybody whose taste in music differs from mine. Lately I try to avoid the subject whenever it comes up.

I’m exactly the same way with ice cream and David Lynch.

I just don’t take disagreements well as my posts might indicate. I actually don’t take much of anything well, now that I think about it.

I’ve long had a Peter Green era mega-compilation and most of the Buckinham-Nicks-era Albums. I recently picked up this set. Not sure why it’s called “original album series” as it’s second-era, but I’m really digging it!

(Also, I find the nude on the first cover offensive 😉 )
