Import the Japanese DVD…? At least, that’s how I’d do it. It’s not like that’d be terribly difficult what with Amazon and all these days.

In the original trilogy Obi-Wan tells Luke that he hasn’t gone by the name Obi-Wan since before he was born. In the prequels we got this is a blatant lie.

To remedy this there comes a time-skip at the end of Act II, after Anakin falls to the darkside. This is also an intermission. This timeskip is about two-years, enough time for Obi-Wan and Padme to go into hiding under pseudonyms, and enough time for her babies to be born.

In order to help convey this, a little bit of narration might be required. Problem is- I don’t thing I have a very presentable voice. Think of Hateful Eight, where there are those two moments of narration. If anybody at all would like to help with that - shoot me a PM!

In other news, I’ve finalized a structure of the edit. All that’s left is to edit and write it. Unfortunately that’s the hard part. After I’ve got a presentable version I’ll send out workprints to those who want to see em’.

Interesting ideas. Until you can get decent narration, maybe you could have what you want narrated written out on title cards during the intermission. You could have them fade onto the screen like they do in the opening of Blade Runner, but with the “A long time ago…” font and color. Maybe red or yellow instead of blue.

Was also trying to think of Taratino-eque sounding titles for the edit. Something Star Wars related but with a grindhouse vibe. How about something like Destroy All Jedi? Sort of like Kill Bill, but more of a callback to the 1969 Japanese monster-flick Destroy All Monsters and a nod to the fact that the whole film will be dubbed in Japanese.

If you wanted it to be seen as a companion piece of sorts to NJVC’s Pulp Empire, you could go with something like Inglorious Jedi, Vader Unchained, or Once Upon a Time in the Republic. Though I think people will still see it as such even with the first suggestion.

Honestly I even think you could still use Revenge of the Sith or The Sith’s Revenge, maybe Vader’s Revenge. Just some random thoughts.

Using a looser definition of twist, here are some ideas:

-Obi Wan turned Anakin (GeekyGlasses); Adds weight to Luke’s training, and proves Yoda and Obi-Wan to be fallible. (You already mentioned it, but here’s an argument for it, and also GeekyGlasses did it first, or at least before this)

-Anakin is a clone of Palpatine (Jason LaJoie); Turns Vader’s redemption into commentary on free will, that Anakin is not destined to be like Palpatine.

-The Obi Wan we see in the Originals is a clone of the Obi Wan we see in the prequels, and Vader is a clone of Anakin, Palpatine cloned them both to be dark side minions, but OB1 turned to the light; IDK lol it’s kinda cool

Additionally, if you wanted to be a little more meta, and aim the twist to people who’ve already seen Lucas’s prequels, you could make Palpatine a legit good guy, and Sidious an entirely different character, or even just using Palpatine as a puppet.

Those are some very interesting ideas to consider! Thank you! I do want to have a surprise in there for people who have already seen the prequels.

How do you guys feel about people swearing? I don’t mean damn or hell- I mean ‘SHIT’ and ‘FUCK!’. I know that they are commonplace in the Tarantino movies but I don’t know if they’ll fit in the Star Wars universe.

I think hard swearing could work if it’s mostly played for comedy, but that depends on how comedic you’re trying to go with the edit.

I realize it’s my screen name and not my real name so it shouldn’t really matter, but I’d prefer “Ash” to “Ashley.” Might have something to do with the fact that Ashley is my stepsister’s name, I dunno, but it feels wrong.

Eh, I don’t really think swearing is necessary, but if anyone were to swear it’s gotta be Sam Jackson.

Another idea for a twist, a lot of people felt they were actually going in this direction but it was never really made clear, but Palpatine could possibly reveal that he and/or Plagueis created Anakin to be the ultimate Sith. So both the Jedi and Sith believe Anakin will bring peace to the galaxy but in two totally different ways. Is he the messiah or the antichrist?

I don’t think the whole ‘Chosen one’ plot line will be mentioned. It never sat right with me.

Probably when I’m almost done.

It entirely depends. I can’t devote too much time to this project but I can tell you that I’ve gotten past the bar scene and Zam’s death.

I’ve been thinking about using Hateful Eight/Inglorious Bastards style chapter markers, but I’m not sure.

I have an idea, just make Palpatine Anakin’s dad so that their relationship becomes that more special.
