Thanks for the detail.
I’ve been on my PC and started to acquire. Seems to have stalled but I’ve left it running so will hopefully get to view it in the morning 😊

Just looked at it. Great to see those teasers again!
Although I haven’t got time to reinsert them all at the moment, I may have a go at one of them as a proof of concept.

The missing scene from the Pilot was also good to see. As is common in these situations, the audio is of a good enough standard to get a seamless restoration. It’s the few moments of picture that would give it away, given we’re working with HD material.

I’m sure we’ll get a decent result at some point though!

The VHS rip looks good and sounds great. If only we could find that deleted footage in at least DVD quality. I hope it airs uncut and someone can record it. I suppose it will show up eventually.

Thanks Lorang. I’ll try to get as many as possible recorded on my PVR (just in case the advertised broadcast order is incorrect) , and hopefully we’ll get a positive result. It would certainly be cheaper than buying the overseas DVDs!

Anyone know if the pre credit teasers where on the episodes starting today on 5spike? My planner started recording midway through the opening titles.

Yes was home early to check, pity, guess will have to wait for range rider 2 parter if they are using the cut up syndicated versions then season 3 in the early new year for music replacement.

I managed to record Cup A Joe from ForcesTV recently. I’m not familiar with where the missing music should be, but after a quick scan through I’m pretty sure it isn’t there. Can someone tell me which part it’s meant to be in so I can check for sure?

Thanks

I did the same with the forces version. Pretty sure its the section were Murdoch is cooking but does quick cut aways to time with a missing soundtrack i.e cooking food flipped, customers, receipts, food flipped, Murdoch cooking ect pretty sure its that part but all music gone doesnt quite look right. Checked my UK Gold recorded version and its the same and thats a few years apart. Looks like Spike stopped at season 2 although they were syndicated versions cut with missing intros.
Best bet may be US or other European TV broadcasts.

Thanks Lorang.
I thought it was possibly those parts too. The search continues!

A minor update, but nothing positive to report. I bought the German season 3 DVD set as it was a good price, but sadly both the English and the German soundtracks are edited.
On a slightly more unbeat note, I have been in contact with a keen fan from the US who has an extensive history of recordings of both A-team and Knight Rider. He has provided me with off air recordings of the two cut sections, but as it is not a digital source there is a noticeable different in quality to a DVD/Blu-ray source.
They are however a last resort fallback plan, if no other sources come to light.

Hey! That is great news anyway. I haven’t been around much lately but I have been on the lookout for anything we can use to restore these episodes.

The Special Edition Blu-ray set has now been launched in the UK.
The advertised differences are more around the inclusion of commentary tracks on selected episodes, and collectors postcards.

Has anyone bought it and checked if any of the edits on the first set have been addressed (unlikely I know)?

Can’t bring myself to spend another £150 for such minor differences, but if by some miracle the episodes are unedited I may be swayed 😃

does anyone know if the original US DVD releases are edited and if they are how badly they’re edited?

There is a separate thread on here about the DVDs, which did have more edits than the UK Blu-ray set.

Thinking about this project again the other day, as it was put on the back burner due to lack of sources.

Here is the current state of things:

I still have the UK VHS release of Mexican Slayride, plus the restored scene that was shared on the spleen.

I also have all the season 2 teasers from the spleen, plus the season 3 teasers from the UK DVD set.

Finally, I have the audio music edits from an off air source, but the quality is average due to the age of the recording.

So, funnily enough, I actually have everything that’s missing (as far as I’m aware), just need to decide if it’s worth taking the plunge with the editing, using less than perfect sources.

The VHS I have of the pilot is of a very high quality (amongst the best VHS commercial releases I’ve seen in all honesty), but it has macrovision so my dvd recorder won’t record it. I’m trying to see if there’s anything I can do it get around this. I’ve read that using a camcorder with a video in helps to bypass it, but since I don’t have one (and they’re expensive secondhand) that’s not really an option…

Oh, and Paramount TV channel in the UK have started showing The A-Team. Unfortunately the pilot had the usual cuts, so I am doubtful the music will be intact when they get to season 3. You never know though!

If anyone can help out with a way of circumventing the macrovision, please do let me know. I have a Panasonic VCR feeding into a Panasonic ES10 DVD Recorder.

Thanks

I recorded the pilot from VHS think I pointed you in that direction. I had no issues as I recorded from the vhs through a HD PVR2 gaming Edition direct to my laptop.
When I reformatted my laptop think I lost the recording it was me that uploaded the teasers and scene to spleen.
PVR are good at recording anything off air including protected content if you use a HD splitter into the PVR it was the same for me with the tape.
Afraid I dont have the tape any longer.

Hi Lorang. Yes, it was you! Sorry for not giving you the direct credit in the previous post. Coincidentally I have the HD PVR2 Gaming edition with an HDMI splitter. Unfortunately I bought it secondhand and it didn’t come with the av cables 😦
I’ll have to see if it’s possible for me to get hold of them from somewhere.

On a side note the vhs is via playback if its the UK version which is uncut, I was tempted to bid on a first run playback DVD that came with a A team magazine before the main collection season box sets came out in the hope this had the uncut music, however the seller wouldn’t check if the music was there. The bid went to £9 not that much but as I couldn’t confirm I let the bid go. The DVD states not for resale and available with magazine only and has playback labelled on it.

That’s interesting, I might look out for that. I’ve just ordered the av cable from Hauppauge direct so will see how that goes when it gets here.
I’ve wanted to get it for a while so this is the little nudge I needed to bite the bullet.

Will also allow any recording of your digital planner in HD or as broadcast or streaming apps you may have 😉

Yep I was planning on using that method for recording any broadcasts that turned out to be uncut.
It’s a good device though, and even retains the 5.1 from a broadcast if it’s there. I’ve recently been using it to capture the broadcasts of Doctor Who. In recent years I’ve been recording all the original broadcasts, in case there are any cuts to the DVD / Bluray releases.
