Oh for Christ’s sake you guys, it’s a dumb comic book spectacle movie that happens to have a little more emotional heft than usual to it, it’s not trying to be high art or anything.
A bit like a certain flash-gordon-inspired space adventure made primarily for twelve year olds perhaps? 😃
