Harmy's STAR WARS Despecialized Edition HD - V2.7 - MKV (Released) — Page 648

Thanks for the welcome. I’m really pleased I’ve been able find these Despecialized Editions by Harmy. Having seen the original release in 77 at the age of 5 and ESB at 8, I have never been satisfied with George’s Special Editions. It’s very much like night and day… once you’ve seen the theatrical versions, nothing compares in my opinion. Those cgi additions are just too jarring and seem to take away from the realism of the original footage.

Anyway, just a heads up about downloading the MKV of Star Wars DE v2.7. After downloading part 2 of the rar file and extracting part 1, I received an error message that part 2 was corrupt. I downloaded part 2 again just to see if it was fixed but I received the same message.

I guess you are attempting to use the “Uloz.to Manual Download” method? From what I’ve seen, that method has always been a little buggy.

For what it’s worth, I recommend using the “Multipart RAR Download” method. Seems like people run into fewer problems with it, and you get the same product in the end result.

The guide with links to the rars for that is here:

Thank you. I’m now using the Multipart RAR Download method you suggested. I’ve just got it working after updating java and following the instructions. Only about a 4 hour download for all the files compared to the manual download of around 12+ hours. Thanks again

I wanted to thank Harmy and all who worked on this restoration. I watched it last night on a projector to screen. The projector used was a QUMI 3 Plus, PICO DLP. Inexpensive. I watched in a dark room to a 85" diagonal white projection screen. I had already watched the BluRay Trilogy editions (I-III and IV-VI) recently released. The packages contain both BluRay and DVD disks. We ripped the DVDs to ISOs for our local Kodi installs and Watched the BluRays on a 65" LED TV.

Obviously I was very dismayed at episode IV through VI. I went to the original open screening of Star Wars - A New Hope when it came to theaters in 1977 with my older sister and subsequent episodes. We were anxiously anticipating the movie and were not disappointed. We were both scifi fans and there had been a huge amount of hype leading up to the premiere. I think I went to Star Wars in my home town theater 7 or 8 times over the run of the movie. At this time, movie houses were monolithic and a popular movie would be “held over” for additional showings as long as the seats were being filled.

The last time I saw the original theatrical release was in the early 80’s on a RCA CED Disk. A local TV/Appliance store carried the RCA players and had thousands of disks for rent. It was the first “video” rental stores in my home town in South Dakota.

I held off purchasing the trilogies until recently when the Force Awakens, Rouge One and Last Jedi awoke my interest in the franchise.

When I first saw the “Special Editions” of IV on BluRay and then DVD, I was really mad. It simply wasn’t the same movie.

Watching the BluRays required fiddling with the color temp controls on the projector or TV almost constantly. The magenta flashes, pink rosy cheeks and lips and the hideously dated CG animations were ghastly.

Thanks for putting things right. The 2.7 edition I believe is as close to the original that I no longer had those WTF…moments while watching and I could enjoy the film as I remembered. Without the cognitive interruption of my brain screaming “THIS IS NOT RIGHT!”

The 2.7 edition I watched on projector looked and felt like watching film and I was immersed in the story and visuals that made the film one of my all time favorites. The sound was excellent too…the BLuRays and DVDs have issues with some nasty clipping in many of the scenes. Like Storm Troopers and DV boarding the princess’s ship. The rear left channel has a terrible crackling clip. The sound mix is very good.

Thank you so much, I can’t wait for when my sister to come for a visit, we will watch on projector and I know she will be absolutely thrilled just we we were in 1977.

I apologize if I sound like a noob or a broken record but I’m still new to this. I have scoured the Internet looking for this fan edit. Every link I find has been taken down or is protected by invite only websites that when I try to get an invite on forum pages the invite forums are taken down. I’ve looked up and down this article to find a link or reference to a website I need to go to and I can’t find anything. Could someone please help me in downloading this fan edit? Any help would be much appreciated.

Be sure to watch ESB 2.0 and ROTJ 2.5 while you’re at it. I’m sorry to say that those look so good now that they make SW 2.7 feel a little less amazing. And you will be similarly pleased with the audio on both (ESB has a one-frame audio sync issue which you are unlikely to notice, but it will be fixed in the next release).

It’s very easy to make your own with Handbrake.

I just recently came across the news of Harmy working on major Hollywood movies and would like to congratulate him on his major achievement.
Congrats Harmy. “This will be a day long remembered”

One day we will have properly restored versions of the Original Unaltered Trilogy (OUT); or 1977, 1980, 1983 Theatrical released versions (Like 4K77,4K80 and 4K83); including Prequels. So that future generations can enjoy these historic films that changed cinema forever.

You can also just change the MKV file container to MP4 with a tool called “Kirara”.

Here’s a spot to download Kirara software.

(Use the link that says “Download Kirara125.exe here [51.6MB]”
It’s near the top of the page, between the two ad banners. Ignore the stuff about ShanaEncoder farther down.)

And here’s a youtube video showing how to use it that’s pretty easy to follow.

Since the video and audio streams don’t need to be re-encoded, there’s less loss of quality and it takes much less time.

Is this like the websites from the early internet days that ranked every Jedi or Dragon Ball Z character by power level, but for fans? I can’t wait to find out what my power level is!

He’s the guy who made the DEED download doc, other than that I have no idea.

LordZerome1080, very few, if any, of the members here will know any more than you do.

Besides, even if we did, it would not be ok to give that information out online.

I didn’t mean his real life info. More of if he is a fan editor or how he is realted to the DEED.

OH.

I think HanDuet is the DEED’s god uncle.

I could be wrong, but my understanding is that he is like me, just a fan who wanted to help make the DEEDS more available and put up a guide to help. I don’t think he was involved in the actual reconstruction.

Hey guys, I’ve been following this project for a while but just downloaded on my Mac, but am having some problems downloading. I used the multiple part RAR download method, and I followed the steps, used the correct links provided on pastebin for ANH v2.7, downloaded updated all of the software necessary, and had all of the files from the free rapid downloader in my folder. However, when i tried to extract the files using Unarchiver and one other extractor for Mac, it said that the movie couldn’t be played. I’m not sure what to do, considering I followed the instructions. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
