Does anyone have any Deleted Scenes for the Original Trilogy? — Page 2

Luke its interesting you mentioned the SS and Lucas given his roots. I posted this on a different thread...
I found this on another board. Interesting post this guy made...
The mother of all sci fi movies. Really is about World War 2. The Empire / Rebel conflict parallels the Axis / Allies. The Millenium Falcon is just a B52, and Han a bomber pilot. Notice how the locales translate to the arenas the war was fought: the deserts of Africa, the forests of the Ardennes and Europe, and the tundra of Russia. We get tanks, squadron fighters, the bushido code of the Japanese, the polished techno-evil of the Nazis, the terrorizing, hypnotic power of Adolf Hitler (very similar-sounding to Darth Vader), and throughout, the mysticism of Judeo-Christianity, i.e. the plight of the chosen ones. Luke and Leia are Biblical / Semitic names. Of course, when I was 8, all I saw at the time was the greatest spectacle I ever experienced in a movie theater. It completely changed my life, and I understood what movies are supposed to be about. Lucas really did something special with this film. But the underlying text would make an interesting thesis though.
Jimbo Luke is right they have different voices and in fact in the original movie, which was originally intended to be the only movie and not episode IV, they were emotional, suprised, had different voices, etc. Don't give Lucas too much credit with this planned it all along crap.

It would explain why they are so skilled in EP II, and can't hit the broad side of a barn with an ion cannon by EP IV.

In the Attack of the Clones commentary he referes to them as stormtroopers. He also mentions that when Jango knocked his head its a refference to the fact that one of his clones knok there head in A New Hope. This is absolute proff that at least some of the original trilogy stormtroopers are clones of Jango Fett. It really makes sense that they would be clones of Jango Fett. Also I think "Aren't you alittle short for a stormtrooper" is definutly proff of them being clones. Leia looks at him and is not afraid. She know stormtroopers were coming to kill her and appeared a bit flirty to Luke. Not normal behavior if she believed they were there to kill her. Liea oviously saw that he was the wrong size and could not be a stormtrooper. Showing they are all the same. They are all clones of Jango.

If they were constantly cloning new armies every couple of years , what would happen to all the soldiers once they were too old for service? not to mention the logistical problems involved in sustaining such a rapid increase in population, lets hope the Empire has a good retirement plan. I thought the only reason they used the clones in the first place was because the republic didn't have time to form an army the regular way, and whenever the clonewars is mentioned in the OT it always sounds like it was ancient history in a way that implies that Clones were a thing of the past.
And as for the Empire and Emperor being anti-alien species, isn't this something that was established in the EU only? I know in the Dark Empire graphic novel there was some pretty disturbing stuff about human supremacy, but I don't recall any examples of this in the actual movies, and besides under all that white armour, how canyou tell what is under there? and where did uniformed imperial officers come from?

Well I can see there's no point trying to debate with Rainman here.
Definitely, yeah, definitely clones, definiely, yeah definitely.

jimbo that commentary came what... about 20 years after the original star wars was made?
so ur telling me that all those years he meant for the stormtroopers to be clones right?
then explain the different voices?
or even why is there no mention of it when Han and Luke take their uniforms on the Death Star (oh look Luke we just nabbed twins... ???)
if Lucas does use the idea of the clones then what is so menacing about the empire?
that they can create humans????
no...
the Empire always seemed like such an evil force to be rekoned (sp.) with because they had the ability to brainwash these people into joining the empire....
they could talk millions into helping them take over the galaxy.... and thats what made them seem powerful...
that was always my way of looking at it...

That's precisely what made the Empire the dominant force in the Galaxy. The fact that they were all but the only prevailing ideology in the Galaxy meant that if you wanted a government job you joined the Academy and became a part of the Empire. Kevin Smith's characters talk at length about this in one of his films, Clerks I think.
Plus to suggest that the troopers are still clones would be to imply that the 'clone wars' were still going on. But Luke and Ben clearly state in the film from 20 years ago that those wars took place around the time that Obi-Wan and Anakin were friends.
Never mind what some revisionist, plaid-clad, bearded, shut-in says now on an audio-commentary, the fact is that the screen story itself reveals the truth.

Absolute proof???? it's only Absolute proof that one of the 'extras' hit his head on a piece of scenery in ANH, I bet it wasn't in the script to show that he was meant to be a clone. it's crazy, even bloopers are explained away as part of Georges original vision.

perhaps the stormtroopers were always dazed in a permanent state of concussion, because of their genetic predisposition to bumping their heads, it made them very easy to coerce. besides when has anyone ever believed something that came out of George Lucas's mouth?

The "Clone Wars" are the name of the battles between the Republic and the Confederacy. Just because clones are still used doesn't make these the clone wars. Whether they were originally meant to be clones is irrelevent. Point is now they are clones. I want an explaination of why Leia wasn't afraid of Luke in stormtrooper costume if they weren't clones.

It's entirely relevent, twenty years after the fact some rich fat twat decides that he can't be bothered reconciling the PT events to match the OT films so he changes the OT films to match the PT events. Lazy film making and poor storytelling. The StormTroopers weren't clones when I saw them in the theatres twenty-something years ago and they're not clones now. Period.

She didn't fear Vader or Tarkin much either, if you actually watch the film you notice that she's a pretty fascetious and headstong little minx. She was on death row and the sight of a shorter than usual trooper amused her, it was gallows humor. She had nothing left to lose and she wasn't going out on her knees like a little bitch.

Lucas didn't have an elaborate plan. And yes you clarify based on what we have now, and what George is trying to edit out of our OT now. The fact that GL will edit their voices to make them clones tells you...HE DIDN"T HAVE THIS IN MIND ORIGINALLY! Oh wait its too difficult to make people with masks have the same voice, no, no it really isn't. It's really 27 years ago it was A movie (1 movie) not a trilogy, not a PT, not a huge empire of fanfare and marketing. He's reworking as he goes and justifying...its at the root of what we all hate here...changing crap to make it fit.
I thought he originally wanted to make it one huge movie, but then had to cut it into 3 movies.

jimbo if that doesnt prove you wrong and have you admit that you are wrong for once....
than i dont know what else we can say....
maybe he wants them to be clones now... but they are not originally clones...
please just try and understand that...

Its irrelevent whether they were originally clones or not. Now there clones. Maybe Darth Vader wasn't originally C-3P0s father but now he is.

no its not irrelevent...
if they were originally clones that means that Lucas has just decided to change his mind now about them...
which means your argument about them being clones is wrong...
thats like me saying...
jimbo you may have been a Bush supporter originally... but now your a Kerry supporter...
how is there any logic in that?
