TCM is showing the general release cut of Greed this Sunday. Turner has had the rights for the movie since the 90s, and generally only shows their attempt at a restoration of the longer, original version that was never widely released. Read more at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greed_(film). However, they are showing the general release version on the 15th. Can anyone capture this airing? It would be awesome to preserve this cut in HD, as it doesn’t seem to exist in HD anywhere else. Thanks to anyone who can help.

It comes on at midnight EST, 11:00 CST, April 15th.

What TCM actually showed was the “reconstructed” 4-hour cut, not the general release version. I believe the GRV was issued on LaserDisc.

Weird. I was under the impression that, contrary to their normal operating procedure, they showed the general release cut instead of their 4-hour reconstructed cut. Are you sure about this?

It seems it should be possible to reconstruct the general release using the HD Reconstruction and the LaserDisc, seeing as the only differences between the two seem to be cut scenes.
