What the hell are you, Big Brother?
Newsflash - if I like it, it IS good for me. How it's ridiculous to like something whether or not it fits your concept of a 'universal standard' is whats beyond me.
And yes Warbler, those bad movies you listed don't have anything really wrong with them in that it's all the same thing. But you misunderstood me as saying it was your 'fault' or a problem with 'you' if you thought they sucked. NOO.
But what it means is that two people can watch the SAME MOVIE and have totally opposing opinions about it, then it's obviously not the movie that's doing it. Think about it - if the movie itself was inherently bad, then everyone would hate it.
But obviously, to one person it had relevance, it related to some experience of theirs, or maybe they just enjoyed the score. To the other person the dialogue was hokey, the actors wooden... whatever. Point being, are you seeing a pattern? It only becomes good/bad when you show it to a person because these concepts are invented by us.
I don't see in any way how that relates to Michael Jackson. 1. He was acquitted. 2. If he did something wrong, then I AGREE that it's wrong and so should everyone else. That's a different kettle of fish to whether or not movies suck! That's a matter of human rights, that kind of behaviour can't be forced upon kids who aren't old enough to defend themselves.
