Attack of the Clones - Centropy UAR version

What is it?

Just the Centropy SVCD, theatrical cut, deblocked, denoised, regrained, upscaled, and with the perspective fixed; this leads to a strange aspect ratio (that remains the same for the whole movie, though!); no color/contrast change.

Examples (top SVCD bicubic, bottom UAR):

so, do not expect a miracle; just a less blocky, slightly cleaned, perspective fixed version, that’s all - if you can stand the strange aspect ratio… 😄

File is AVC 1280x720 (so with added black bars on top and bottom) 3mbps, AC3 192kbps dual mono track; muxed in a .mkv file, BD compliant.

Released on the usual internal organ… enjoy!

How’s it going? Any update on the full version, I’m very impatient, lol 😉

Another two hours for the lossless encoding; add to this some time for the loss encoding and uploading; let’s say it should be up and ready in few hours… hold on! 😄

Will be checking this out soon.

Surprised that someone with your immense skill didn’t fill in those missing corners 😉

Any chance you’d share your lossless file?

Corners too huge to get good results! 😄

Lossless file has been immediately deleted due to HDD space!

Halted, at least unless someone more skilled than me would be able to clean up EP 4,5,6 deleted scenes, and possibly colorize the b&w scenes - about this, there is a nice tutorial on doom9, under avisynth usage subforum.

I’m definitely not skilled, but I could try to clean up the deleted scenes. Colorizing however, you would have to ask someone with much more expertise.

I’ve gone batshit several times over for the sake of historical preservation…

Andrea, take a look at my rundown of some Ep II DVD bootlegs on page 10 of this thread:
http://originaltrilogy.com/topic/Theater-Performance-Preservations/id/12161/page/10
(Unfortunately, some screengrabs are missing due to ImageShack messing up.)

I’m wondering if one of these DVDs might be from the same source as your Centropy SVCD? If they are, they would be even better than a SVCD copy, right?

Well, “Superbit” version seems pretty spot on, color wise, so I guess is from the same source; the quality should be checked, as PAL DVD admits also resolutions inferior to 720x576.

If you want to post few untouched frames with frame number, I could say if it’s better or not than SVCD; surely, the perspective is fixed, at the cost of few missing parts on the sides.

Yeah, doesn’t look like there’s much to be gained.
I took these grabs to correspond to the ones you posted from your project. Apparently there’s some frame blending from the PAL conversion to contend with too.

I’d be happy to send you the untouched DVD rip anyway, just let me know.

I would love to have that if you’re willing to put it on MySpleen or something. Even if it’s not much better than Centropy, I’d still like to have an archive of all bootlegs that are out there.

Yes, frame blending is there - that’s why I posted the “double laser sword” screenshot! 😄

Still, DVD has the perspective fixed, so I don’t know that I can do with it, apart denoise, grain plate, and eventual deblocking and color correction.

I leave it entirely up to you to judge whether it is worth the effort or not. Let me know, okay? 😄

Meanwhile, may you send me just one minute untouched, from, let’s say, second VOB? TSmuxer should be able to do that.
