I think it’s unlikely that the grading simply had one blanket yellowish setting added over the top of it, even if some find it too yellow in general. It would probably need a careful shot by shot adjustment.

A couple look more natural (if that makes them better or worse is a personal choice. I don’t believe films need to be stripped of their color timing decisions to look good). But, some shots have indeed become blue enough that I’m sure the blue would fanedited away if it was released that way.

I personally really like how this regrade looks and think its a big improvement over the blu-ray, but that is definately possible, that different scenes have had different amounts of blanket yellow tint added. I predominantly used the scene where Ray gives the lightsaber to Luke at the beginning and the lightsaber fight at the end to work out how much of the blanket yellow tint needed removing to bring the other colours back to life. I didn’t test any other scenes.

Its definately possible that other scenes may have had a less strong blanket yellow tint added. I personally do not think that is the case with the snow scenes though, I think those scenes were selectively graded to look bluer and colder before a yellow blanket tint was added across the whole film in a final pass.

I will test specifically that shot from the screencaps with the snow fox to see whether a different amount of yellow was added there and get back to you all.
