I will never as long as I live understand the appeal of movie theaters.

Most people don’t hate being in the company of other people.

I will never as long as I live understand most people.

I can’t imagine why the disgusting slob type crowd would be filling a theater to see 2001 in 70mm.

Pretty much this, and true 70mm in a proper theater is something to behold.

Exactly. Not even remotely comparable to an at home blu-ray viewing, even if you have a 120" screen.

But at home you can lay on your couch with a pillow and a blanket. That’s a big draw for me.

EDIT: And another point to the theatrical experience, I’ve been to seven films in theaters since 2015, all of which would be considered more popular to the average crowd, and I never ran into annoyances caused by others in the audience. Literally the only problems were caused by the actual theater.

I’ve been to theaters somewhere around a hundred times since 2015, and same for me. There’ve been a couple times with some rowdy audiences members, but nothing movie-ruining (and percentage-wise, not too bad considering).

My theater experiences are at about a 60:40 in terms of the bad audience to decent audience ratio.
