I don’t quite understand why a college-aged male would feel the need to go to an all-male college though.
I don’t quite understand why a college-aged female would feel the need to go to an all-female college though.
It has been explained to you.
It’s still a terrible explanation. I’m sure a man going to a male-college because Mom neglected him would also be called out as a really weird and irrational decision that (in your mind) wouldn’t justify the existence of all-male colleges.
What a great comparison!
It’s a fair comparison because both are irrational.
Neglected son and raped daughter are both totally acting irrational…
If they wanted to go to gender-segregated schools for those reasons, I’d say yes. You’re saying that one is and the other isn’t.
I’m saying that I can understand why one would think that way if one were raped, irrational or not.
Sure I get it too, I’m just saying that it’d be an irrational decision. I don’t see why it’s problematic to say that.
I said a rape would be one reason for someone to want to go to an all-female college. You called it a terrible explanation.
But it seems we’re talking in circles now, so I’m happy to drop it.
Oh, I thought it was a terrible explanation for why all-female colleges aren’t sexist but all-male colleges are, especially since it’s safe to say that it is absolutely not one of the reasons why there are segregated schools in the first place. I wasn’t really responding to you specifically. I actually think we’re more or less on the same page on this, I just am more mean in the way I talk about things 😉
EDIT: Also, to be fair I don’t even think you said that it one was sexist while the other wasn’t. I believe only yhx implied that.
