Another mistake I made was after IVTCing, I encoded it in Vegas with 3-2 Pulldown. What I didn't know at the time is that this de-IVTC'ed the video!
Thus, the space I was supposed to save for all my soundtracks was not nearly as much as I would have wanted. (which was the ultimate goal for this "proof of concept" DVD: PCM 2.0, new AC3 5.1, and commentary track.)If you get the full DVD, you'll notice that it's filled to the brim. I recompiled 3 times to get the video bit-rate as high as I could go. If I were to re-IVTC, and then apply PULLDOWN.EXE (a program with which I was unaware of at the time), then the video bit-rate would be much higher, resulting in fewer artifacts.
Like I said, I've learned a lot since then.
